Director, Platform Architecture
Origami RiskOrigami Risk is a leading provider of integrated risk, compliance, safety, healthcare, and P&C insurance SaaS solutions.
• Define and own the enterprise platform architecture strategy — establishing the technical vision for how our systems, services, APIs, and data layers are designed to support product innovation, client scale, and competitive differentiation. • Develop and maintain architecture principles, patterns, and guardrails that guide Engineering teams toward consistent, scalable, and maintainable system design across back-end, API, and integration layers. • Lead architectural runway planning in partnership with the VP of Engineering and Product leadership — ensuring architectural investments stay ahead of product demand and organizational growth. • Evaluate and make deliberate decisions on foundational technology choices — including frameworks, cloud services, messaging patterns, data stores, and AI/ML integration approaches — balancing innovation with operational sustainability. • Own the architecture decision record (ADR) process, ensuring significant architectural decisions are documented, peer-reviewed, and accessible to the broader engineering organization. • Champion an AI-first design philosophy across the platform — ensuring that AI capabilities, including LLM integration, intelligent workflow orchestration, and ML-powered services, are treated as first-class architectural concerns rather than afterthoughts. • Define architectural patterns for AI capability integration, including API design standards for LLM-powered services, prompt management patterns, model versioning strategies, and AI observability requirements. • Provide architectural oversight to the Manager of Back-End Software Engineering and Manager of Technical Software Engineering — ensuring that engineering work executed within those teams is architecturally sound, consistently patterned, and aligned with the platform roadmap. • Run architecture guilds, design forums, and technical review sessions that create space for Engineering teams to engage with platform architecture, raise design questions, and contribute to architectural evolution.
• You will be part of an exciting ecosystem, participating with federal employees and other contractors, in a team-based DevOps approach to deliver mission value cost-effectively and responsively, and collaboratively with other companies to architect, design, build, deliver, and enhance highly available, scalable, real-time systems. • You will exercise your judgment in determining and recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines and other resource constraints. • You will participate in and/or direct major deliverables of projects through all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit testing.
• Development and maintenance of the system. • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to define requirements and software architecture. • Implementation of software engineering best practices. • Evaluation and implementation of new technologies and tools. • Active participation in project planning and estimation processes. • Implementation and management of DevOps practices to improve continuous integration, including test automation, continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD). • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, from 07:45 to 18:00, with a 1 hour 45 minute break.
