Program Development Coordinator

Role Description The Program Development Coordinator is a key member of the Philanthropy Team, advancing fundraising efforts through grant writing, reporting, compelling supporter and institutional communications, stewardship support, and strategic development initiatives. The Program Development Coordinator collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to develop impactful proposals, reports, presentations, and communications that demonstrate organizational impact, strengthen supporter relationships, and support philanthropic revenue goals. Responsibilities - Research and develop a prospect list of grant opportunities to fulfill programmatic and general operating budget needs including organizations whose funding priorities align with Michigan Humane’s mission and programs, with accountability to annual foundation fundraising goals. - Coordinate and develop grant requests by establishing timelines that outline tasks and deadlines. Submit requests and reports within funder deadlines. - Research and collect data and study findings to support proposals. - Draft and edit high quality, compelling LOI’s, grant and partnership proposals, grant reports, and acknowledgement letters, with special attention to organizational voice, spelling, grammar, and style. - Understand programmatic work through experiences and work closely with operations and finance teams to develop grant requests and budgets. - Respond to inquiries from funders strategically and in a timely manner with guidance from leadership. - Maintain a library of impact reports, proposals and grant language for Michigan Humane programs to support the development team and simplify workflow. - Work with data management, marketing and finance teams to track program outcomes, gather performance data for grant reporting in a timely manner to meet reporting deadlines. - Work closely with finance team to track restricted gifts, ensuring releases are on track to meet grant agreement requirements. - Develop a system to create program impact reports and proposals for use across the development team to support solicitations and stewardship. - Create visually compelling materials that communicate complex information clearly and persuasively. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Communication, English, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or related field preferred. - Minimum 1-2 years of experience in grant writing, development communications, fundraising, foundation relations, or a related field. - Graphic design and presentation software experience (PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar) preferred. - Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising software experience preferred. Experience with grant reporting databases preferred. - Demonstrated ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals in alignment with organizational vision and goals. - Knowledge of metro Detroit foundations and animal welfare is a plus.
