Role Description Help Shape the Future of Sustainable Fisheries in Northwest Africa. Healthy fisheries are essential to food security, coastal livelihoods, and thriving marine ecosystems. As a collaborator in the second Global Marine Commodities Project (GMC2), Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) is working with governments, seafood industry leaders, regional organizations, and development partners to strengthen fisheries management across the Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem (CCLME). SFP is looking for an experienced fisheries professional to help lead that effort. The position is funded for five years by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). As our CCLME Fisheries Program Manager, you'll coordinate project implementation across Mauritania, Morocco, and Senegal. You’ll work alongside governments, industry, NGOs, and local partners to improve fisheries governance, strengthen seafood value chains, and deliver meaningful conservation and development outcomes. If you're motivated by collaborative problem-solving, enjoy building partnerships across cultures and institutions, and want your work to have lasting regional impact, we'd love to hear from you. Qualifications - Advanced degree in fisheries governance, fisheries management, marine resource management, fisheries value chains, or a related field. - At least seven years of professional experience in fisheries management, fisheries improvement, seafood value chains, or related disciplines. - Direct experience working on fisheries, seafood markets, or value chains within the CCLME. - Demonstrable experience building trusted relationships with governments, industry, NGOs, and local partners. - Comfortable coordinating complex projects involving multiple countries and stakeholders. - Fluent in your country of origin's language, highly proficient in French and English, and enjoy working in multicultural environments. - Thrive in a fully remote, internationally distributed organization. - Excited to travel throughout the region and internationally as needed. Requirements - Experience implementing GEF-funded, UNDP-funded, or other large international development projects. - Experience supporting Fisheries Improvement Projects (FIPs) or similar collaborative fisheries initiatives. - Experience facilitating stakeholder engagement across governments, industry, and civil society. Benefits - Join a collaborative global team dedicated to practical solutions that improve ocean health and strengthen sustainable seafood production worldwide. - Help shape fisheries management across three countries. - Work alongside internationally recognized experts in fisheries sustainability. - Collaborate with governments, regional organizations, seafood companies, and NGOs. - Contribute to a high-profile international initiative supported by UNDP and GEF. - Deliver measurable environmental and socioeconomic impact across northwest Africa.
