Founded in 1998 Propio Language Services provides critical interpreting and translation services that improve the quality of life with the communities we engage in. We do that by providing both remote and onsite services in more than 350 Spoken Languages and American Sign Language, for over 14,000 clients with a diverse and highly experienced staff, and over 15,000 contract interpreters. Quality interpretation is critical to our shared success, and it is only possible by bringing in the best interpreters in the industry. We have an immediate need for a Remote French Contract Interpreters for our OnDemand service PropioONE. Contract Responsibilities: - Provides consecutive, first-person interpretation. - Follows interpreter protocols and procedures as required by Propio L.S. clients. - Follows all Propio L.S. policies and procedures related to information confidentiality and interpreter ethics. - Continuously improves vocabulary and specialized subject matter knowledge, as required for various clients, such as medical, legal, social services, etc. Requirements: - Submission of updated Resume in English at time of Application. - Completion of English Language Proficiency with a language rating of “technical proficiency” (3 or higher on the nationally recognized ILR scale). - Successful completion of a Mock oral interpretation session. Interpreters are evaluated against 24 quality standards and must attain a passing score. - Completion of Propio's online Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology Assessment, with a passing score. - A full Background Check and Security Screen. - A signed commitment to confidentiality, adherence to ethics, and HIPAA compliance. Preferred Qualifications: - 1+ years of interpreting experience. • This is a remote position for an Experienced Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) English-ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreter based in the United States. • The interpreter will be responsible for providing accurate interpretation services virtually via video between English and ASL in medical, social services, customer service, and financial settings. • The role involves facilitating seamless communication between service providers and the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community to ensure effective understanding and care.

The hourly American Sign Language interpreter interprets classroom lectures and presentations for qualifying students. The interpreter works on an intermittent basis as required for particular courses. This is an hourly position not to exceed 69 hours per month. This position reports directly to the ASL and Disability Support Coordinator. As an hourly position, the position qualifies for Washington state part-time employee benefits. - Transmit, through sign language and mouth expression, semi-technical classroom and course work presentations; communicate to the student simultaneously what the instructor has said; transmit back to the instructor by interpretation from the students relaying responses to questions and asking questions. - Tutor students under the direction of classroom instructors; by sign language, answer their questions or assist them in course material that they are having difficulty with; provide guidance and direction on study methods. - Arrange for notetaking for deaf students; supply special notebooks and any other equipment needed. - Assist the instructor in providing for the deaf students the best possible environment to facilitate their learning. - Complete daily and monthly reports on classes for which interpreted, complete reports on individual student's progress. - Attend meetings and workshops in interpretation techniques and tutoring. - Perform related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - High school graduation or completion of general education development test; plus one month of experience interpreting for the deaf or hard-of-hearing of which six months must have been in a classroom setting. - Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Expressive Interpreting and/or Expressive Translating Certification through evaluation by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. KNOWLEDGE OF: - The use of ASL interpreting in a classroom setting. - Cross-modal communication; experience interpreting using receptive/expressive ASL skills. ABILITY TO: - Communicate effectively in all modes. - Maintain positive rapport and working relationships with students, faculty and staff. - Adhere to the Professional Code of Conduct (PDC) as defined by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD).
