Role Description Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Remote, Full-time, Day Shift, Hospital Charge Auditor II. - Provides System-wide support for assigned clinical Department(s) charge audit and billing functions. - Audits billing records with a high degree of accuracy and comprehensive knowledge of charges, patient types, and billing technology systems. - Provides expert level of knowledge for all aspects of the billing and charges and is a resource for complex billing issues, reconciliations, and corrections. - Works with other System experts to resolve concerns or provide expert billing consultation and initiatives to ensure revenue capture. Qualifications - Education: High School Grad or Equivalent (Required) - Experience: 4 years Billing Experience (Required) - Experience: 4 years Medical Terminology (Required) Requirements - Post high school healthcare training preferred in coding, medical terminology, or healthcare data systems. - Billing experience must be in a healthcare environment. - Must be able to work independently and provide training for other staff. Responsibilities: - Audit financial statements, quarterly financial information, and clients' annual reports. - Take part in pre-audit planning to assess the risk of material misstatement of financial accounts to design effective audit procedures. - Identify accounting and audit issues and perform research to solve issues. - Responsible for testing internal controls, policies, and procedures and making recommendations. - Perform audits under Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) auditing standards, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). - Proactively build relationships and communicate with clients and associates. - Teach, train, and develop incoming staff/interns.
