Software Engineering Group Manager (Marketing Adobe Platforms)
PNCFounded over 150 years ago, PNC is a financial services corporation that works with retail, business, and corporate clients and has assets totaling more than $2
Job Profile Position Overview At PNC, our people are our greatest differentiator and competitive advantage in the markets we serve. We are all united in delivering the best experience for our customers. We work together each day to foster an inclusive workplace culture where all of our employees feel respected, valued and have an opportunity to contribute to the company’s success. As a Software Engineering Group Manager within PNC's Marketing & Technology organization, you will be based in Dallas, TX or Wentzville, MO. Engineering Group Manager – Marketing Adobe Platforms Role Summary The Engineering Group Manager for Marketing Adobe Platforms is a senior technical leader responsible for driving transformative, enterprise scale development across approximately six cross functional Adobe engineering crews. This role owns end to end technical execution, platform health, and engineering excellence for Adobe led capabilities, including AEM, AEP/RT CDP, Adobe Journey Optimizer, Assets, and Workfront, while ensuring delivery is tightly aligned to measurable marketing and business outcomes. This is a hands on technical management role, not a coordination function. The leader is expected to set technical direction, elevate engineering maturity, and make complex architectural and delivery trade offs in a highly regulated, enterprise environment. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Architecture • Own the technical strategy and execution for Adobe Marketing platforms across multiple crews, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, performant, and enterprise ready. • Serve as the primary technical decision authority for Adobe related engineering, including architecture patterns, integration strategies, and platform standards. • Drive modern engineering practices across Adobe development (API first design, event driven integrations, CI/CD, cloud native patterns, performance optimization). • Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture and Security to ensure compliance, data protection, and governance without slowing delivery. Multi Crew Engineering Management • Lead and grow ~6 Adobe focused engineering crews, providing clear technical direction, prioritization, and execution discipline. • Ensure crews are aligned to a shared target architecture and are delivering incrementally toward that vision. • Actively manage technical dependencies, cross crew integration points, and delivery risk, intervening early where needed. • Balance platform evolution with near term delivery commitments, avoiding both over engineering and short term fixes. Delivery & Execution Excellence • Translate marketing and product intent into clear, executable technical plans with well defined success criteria. • Establish and enforce “ready to execute” standards (architecture readiness, non functional requirements, dependency clarity) before teams commit to delivery. • Use PI Planning, Demo Days, and execution reviews as decision points, not status updates. • Drive predictable delivery through strong upfront engineering rigor and transparent trade off management. Engineering Culture & Talent Development • Build a high performing engineering culture grounded in accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. • Coach senior and mid level engineers, tech leads, and architects to raise the bar on design quality, code health, and system thinking. • Identify skill gaps (e.g., Adobe specialization, data enablement, integration engineering) and proactively address them through hiring, upskilling, or vendor strategy. • Act as a technical mentor and escalation point for complex engineering challenges. Enterprise Partnership & Influence • Partner with Product, Marketing, Data, Platform, and Operations leaders to align technology execution with business outcomes, not just platform adoption. • Represent Adobe engineering in enterprise forums, articulating technical trade offs, risks, and recommendations clearly to senior leadership. • Influence roadmap decisions by grounding discussions in engineering reality, platform constraints, and long term sustainability. ________________________________________ Required Qualifications • 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant depth in enterprise platforms or complex distributed systems. • Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams or crews delivering large scale, mission critical platforms. • Strong hands on background with modern web architectures, APIs, cloud platforms, and integration patterns. • Demonstrated ability to operate as a technical authority, making architectural decisions and guiding teams through ambiguity. • Experience working in regulated, security conscious environments with strong governance requirements. ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications • Direct experience with Adobe Experience Cloud (AEM, AEP/RT CDP, AJO, Assets, Workfront) or equivalent enterprise digital platforms. • Experience modernizing or scaling marketing, personalization, or customer engagement platforms. • Background in data driven systems, event streaming, or real time decisioning integrations. • Strong track record of transformational engineering leadership, not just steady state operations. ________________________________________ Success in This Role Looks Like • Adobe engineering moves from platform led execution to outcome driven delivery. • Multiple crews operate with clear technical alignment, predictable delivery, and reduced rework. • Platform health, scalability, and security improve without slowing business momentum. • Engineering teams are engaged, growing, and recognized as trusted partners, not order takers.
