Clinical Coder

St Vincent's Health Australia

• Responsible for assigning accurate and timely clinical codes to patient episodes of care at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside • Involves analysis of patient record documentation and using the appropriate version of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Australian Modification (ICD10AM) • Applying Australian Coding Standards and relevant State Coding authority advice • Participate in ongoing training and education sessions and ongoing audits

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent, or Clinical Coding qualifications from HIMAA or equivalent.
  • At least two years clinical coding experience.
  • Previous experience with 3M Codefinder software.
  • Experience in clinical coding across a range of DRGs with demonstrated high quality coding skills.
  • Up to date knowledge of Clinical Coding guidelines and Australian Coding Standards and be prepared to participate in performance and quality improvement activities.
