Qualifications - Proficiency/Bilingual/Native level of English and target language. - 1+ years of interpreting experience (Desirable). - High emotional intelligence and tolerance of diverse cultures. - High level of communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills. Spanish Interpreters are bilingual and proficient in English and Spanish to interpret health care information to and from Spanish-speaking patients/patients families and Medical Center health care providers. Act as a Language liaison between the patient, family, and staff in support of the medical plan of care. Facilitates acquisition of Interpreter Services for non-Spanish Languages (via OPI/over the phone, VRI/video remote interpreter and/or contract services). Education & Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting with current knowledge of medical terminology and procedures. Previous interpretation / translation experience preferred. Ability to precisely and accurately translate critical medical information from English to the patient's native language.
