Role Description The Bilingual technical editor will be responsible for maintaining the CWB’s technical writing and translation standards within the Learning Development group, ensuring timely technical continuity between English and French copy. This role will be responsible for quality control and review of material with respect to compliance with the Learning Development style guide. - Edit material submitted by French Translators and external contractors, ensuring conformance with learning development style guide. - Work with staff technical writers and external contractors to align texts in French and/or English to the overall requirements of learning resources and or other project specifications. - Ensure work is aligned with project schedules as provided by the Learning Development Manager. - Maintain the French lexicon for CWB. - Use specialist dictionaries, thesauruses, and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology. - Research legal, technical, and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation. - Liaise with clients and team members to discuss any unclear points. - Prioritize work to meet deadlines in coordination with the Supervisor of Editing and Translation. - Consult with Subject Matter Experts in specialist areas. - Use learning resource tools and systems to manage and document assigned work. - Collaborate effectively with all members of the learning development team. - Support leadership of all French CWB language Education projects. - Pro-actively problem solve challenges within English and translation projects. - Provide status updates on all French language projects and timelines to the Editing and Translation Supervisor. - Assist in scoping and estimation of all French language projects. - Other duties as assigned. In this position, you will report to the Supervisor of Editing and Translation and will be working remotely from your home office in Canada. CWB has adopted a remote-first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person. Qualifications - Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French. - Technical editing experience. - Direct experience working in and actively supporting a production team. - Strong knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Working knowledge of Adobe creative suite. - Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, employees, and end-users. - Proven ability to work as a member of a cohesive team. - Must exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail and be accountable to timelines to ensure flawless execution. - Uses appropriate work strategies to meet tight deadlines. - Work independently. Requirements - This is a remote, work from home position. - The following qualifications are considered assets: - BA French or Communications. - Related Post-Secondary degree or diploma. - 6+ years work experience as Technical Editor. - Experience in a welding industry.
