• Own the development and deployment of advanced CV models — object detection, multi-object tracking, camera calibration, and semantic segmentation — for player tracking across multiple sports • Build and scale high-performance pipelines for video and image data ingestion, processing, and analysis that hold up under the demands of professional and collegiate programs • Contribute across the full CV/ML lifecycle, from data gathering, model development and training through production deployment, monitoring, and iterative refinement • Drive R&D initiatives including 3D body pose tracking, real-time analysis systems, and integration with LLM/NLP research — with real latitude to explore within the scope of each project • Collaborate closely with Software Engineering, Product, and Data Ops to ensure your work is understood, integrated, and used correctly downstream

• Build and train CV models for sports video: player/ball detection, multi-object tracking, pose/keypoints, event/action recognition, identity association (re-ID). • Own the experimentation loop: hypotheses → ablations → error analysis → measurable improvements. • Design and maintain evaluation: task-appropriate metrics (e.g., MOT metrics, keypoint accuracy, event precision/recall), dataset slices, and failure taxonomy. • Improve data efficiency: augmentations, sampling strategies, handling label noise, weak/self-supervision where helpful. • Prototype and iterate on modern architectures (e.g., transformer-based detection/tracking, temporal models, multi-task setups). • Collaborate on dataset + labeling design: formats, schemas, tooling, versioning. • Help productionize models: packaging, batch/stream inference patterns, throughput/latency tradeoffs, robustness checks. • Add lightweight quality gates: reproducibility, automated eval, regression detection.

Role Description The Department of Engineering, Data and Computer Sciences, in the College of Business, Engineering and Technology at the National University invites applications for part-time faculty with a specialization in Computer Science. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of or potential for excellence in teaching in their field and a commitment to serving the university’s diverse adult student body. This position primarily works closely with the Academic Program Director and other faculty within the program and contributes to ensuring program quality, student engagement, and success. Qualifications - Ph.D. in the field of computer science or computer engineering from a regionally accredited university required. - A strong background in any of the following areas required: - Advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (e.g., deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, large-scale AI systems) - Data Systems and Data Engineering (e.g., database systems, distributed data systems, large-scale data processing, data-intensive applications) - Systems and Distributed Computing (e.g., operating systems, distributed systems, parallel computing, cloud and scalable systems) - Networking and Networked Systems (e.g., computer networks, distributed networking, modern communication systems) - Software Engineering and Programming Systems (e.g., programming languages, systems programming, software design and architecture) - Emerging areas aligned with computer science research (e.g., IoT systems, scalable platforms, trustworthy AI, quantum computing) Requirements - 3+ years of higher education teaching experience preferred. - Experience teaching at the doctoral level, contributing to course development, and serving on dissertation committees preferred.
