Role Description Sartorius has a remote-based position for a Technical Sales Specialist (Gene Therapy) in the Philadelphia, PA area. In this role, you will drive sales growth and build strong customer relationships across the East Coast. This strategic, results-focused role requires effective territory management, deep customer engagement, and skilled use of Salesforce (SFDC) to support sales execution and planning. You will lead efforts to expand Sartorius’ presence in the Gene and Nucleic Acid markets by promoting our Advanced Therapy Solutions portfolio to biopharma, biotech, CDMO, academic, and hospital accounts. Success in this role will depend on your ability to understand complex customer needs, communicate product value clearly, and focus on (early) seeding activities to gain new business opportunities. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will develop targeted sales strategies and stay current with industry trends to fuel sustained growth. In this field-based role, you will: - Pursue and convert new business through hands-on technical selling, running demos and trials that directly drive revenue and product adoption within a defined portfolio. - Hand over newly won accounts for long-term development in collaboration with Central Sales. What you will accomplish together with us: - Identify, reach, and engage prospective customers, including new logo and whitespace opportunity generation not covered by Central Sales, to generate and qualify new business opportunities through proactive technical hunting. - Plan, execute, and manage technical demos and trials to validate customer fit and accelerate adoption. - Drive deal progression by framing solution fit, quantifying customer impact, and addressing technical objections to increase win rate through technical selling and value positioning. - Shape customer proposals and commercial offers in collaboration with Central Sales by providing critical technical inputs that impact deal closure. - Deliver pre- and post-sales technical support to secure adoption and generate repeat revenue, ensuring a smooth transition to Central Sales once adoption is secured. - Capture and share actionable Voice-of-Customer insights (user needs, feedback, competitive signals) to influence assigned product portfolio and enhance sales enablement approaches, sharing insights systematically with Central Sales for integration into account plans. Qualifications - Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering, or related field. - 3+ years of technical sales, applications support, or pre-sales experience in a scientific or technical environment. - Demonstrated hunter mindset with proven ability to identify, advance, and win new opportunities. - Strong hands-on technical capability, including demos, trials, and customer evaluations. - Excellent consultative communication skills, able to articulate technical and commercial value to diverse stakeholders. - Proficiency in CRM systems and structured sales processes, with strong documentation discipline. - Willing to travel >50% as this role is heavily focused on external customers. - Identification with our core values: Sustainability, Openness, Enjoyment.
