Senior Software Engineer, Customer Engineering

• Guide customers, write code, win deals: Partner closely with Sales and Customer Success to understand customer needs, participate in discovery calls, architect solutions, and write production code to close deals and keep our customers satisfied and engaged. • Own our engineering escalations function: Serve as the primary point of contact for customer-impacting technical issues, coordinating across Customer Experience, Product, and Engineering to drive fast, high-quality resolution. • Design, build, and deploy tools (including AI tools) to multiply the impact of our internal teams, particularly our customer experience and success teams. • Influence and shape the product by advocating for customer needs and translating them to shipped features.
Job Requirements
- You bring a minimum of 4 years of experience in building production web applications.
- You’re a full-stack engineer who is adept in both backend (Ruby on Rails preferred, or strong experience in Python/Node) and frontend (React/TypeScript).
- You bring a minimum of 2 recent years of experience working directly with customers in a technical capacity (e.g. customer engineering, solutions engineering, support engineering, or owning customer-facing features).

• Manage CRM and ERP software implementation projects for clients with 5-500 users. • Participate in functional and technical working groups and progress meetings. • Identify business needs, document requirements, and ensure a smooth delivery through our Best Practices Playbooks while supporting clients through the implementation process. • Work closely with the Implementation Team, including Project Managers, Principal Consultants and Technical Services resources. • Design and deliver key stakeholder training on system configuration as well as end user training. • Basic project management tasks including the following: creation of onsite agendas, project task list follow up, escalation of issues to Project Manager & Leadership in order to keep the project within defined scope and timeline.
• Lead clients through end-to-end HCM/payroll implementations (average 3 months per project). • Manage data conversion, validation, and integrity throughout the project. • Facilitate training sessions, build rollout plans, and guide change management efforts. • Collaborate with vendor implementation teams (Paycor, Paylocity, ADP, etc.) to align priorities and resolve issues. • Think strategically about client needs, identifying creative solutions and opportunities to improve processes. • Act as the client’s advocate—quickly learning their organization and ensuring deadlines, compliance, and project goals are met. • Provide clear communication, documentation, and project tracking across multiple client engagements.
