This hybrid position is based in Charlotte, NC, with in‑office work required Tuesday through Thursday. What it takes: - Partner with architects to implement high-performance mobile applications. - Research and summarize adjacent technology trends to provide guidance. - Mentor the team on the “how” of better use of existing platform components and performance best practices. - Highly collaborative, a fast learner and willing to work wherever you’re needed on the team. - Demonstrated experience with software engineering fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, dependency injection, testable code, and algorithms. - Able to effectively communicate technical issues in a manner all can understand. - Able to work with scrum masters and product owners to prioritize work relative to both delivering business value and addressing technical debt. - Lead system analysis, design, development, and implementation for our existing mobile native applications. - Translate stories into design and code. Develop well-engineered code and test artifacts backed by automated tests. - Research and employ contemporary software development techniques to ensure quality and improve velocity of the team. - Elevate code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provide follow-up production support. Submit change control requests and documents. - Lead in design, code, and test inspections throughout life cycle to identify issues. - Participate in other meetings, such as those for use case creation. - Contribute to developing and maintaining an inclusive and highly collaborative environment for the team. To be successful in this role, you should have: - Experience with Native mobile application development - Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages (e.g. Swift/SwiftUI/Objective-C, JavaScript) - Ability to learn new technologies quickly and demonstrate a hands-on understanding - Strong understanding of design patterns, integration patterns/practice, data modeling principles and best practices - A good track record of project delivery for large cross-team projects - Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with engineers, managers, PMs, customers - Experience with cloud development platforms, mobile/web development frameworks, and micro-service architecture Preferred Skills: - Demonstrated experience with software engineering fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, dependency injection, testable code, and algorithms - Latest iOS SDK / XCode - Swift 5 / SwiftUI - CI/CD Pipeline (GitHub Actions / Fastlane) - Git (GitHub) - Honeycomb - Splunk Qualifications: - Degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred or relevant experience - 8+ years of software development experience - 5+ years as a mobile developer Special Factors Sponsorship Vanguard is not offering visa sponsorship for this position. • Design, develop, and deliver high-quality iOS Swift applications and SDKs • Implement unit and UI tests for core functionality and UI workflows, respectively • Work in co-located Scrum teams of developers, testers, product owners, and scrum masters. • Work with product managers and UX designers to define new features • Mentor and motivate software developers to deliver high quality code using software best practices and patterns. • Ensure quality and consistency in software architecture and implementation • Evaluate new technologies and explore solution alternatives; develop prototypes • Learn and follow design assurance SOPs • Provide timely support to team customers, internal and external.
