Role Description We are looking for a Mission Lead, International to help Vannevar build and deepen relationships with allied defense and national security organizations around the world. This role sits at the intersection of business development, mission execution, and customer success. Roughly 50% of your time will be focused on identifying, developing, and expanding international opportunities, while the other 50% will be spent ensuring customers achieve meaningful operational outcomes with Vannevar's products. You will serve as both a trusted advisor and a strategic growth partner to allied military and government organizations. On any given trip, you may find yourself: - Briefing senior military leaders - Demonstrating Vannevar's software to operational users - Identifying new mission opportunities - Supporting a pilot deployment - Helping a customer navigate the path from initial interest to long-term adoption U.S. Persons status with at least a current Top Secret US DoD or IC clearance is required. This is a customer-facing role with required travel to Europe (50% travel). Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Web and working closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders, the role will focus on contributing to the architecture and hands-on development of building systems used in delivering our program to patients. The ideal candidate is a developer with a strong sense of ownership looking to contribute across the entire stack. Roles & Responsibilities - Work cross-functionally with Product, Data, and other stakeholder teams to design and implement RESTful APIs that power key application features and ensure a seamless, responsive user experience. - Develop interactive, performant, and accessible front-end experiences using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or equivalents). - Monitor existing systems for performance, reliability, and security, troubleshooting issues across the stack. - Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability, and deployment automation. - Write and maintain automated tests (RSpec, Mintest, Jest, Cypress), ensuring high code quality and coverage. - Participate in code reviews and advocate for clean, maintainable, and idiomatic code. - Create and maintain technical documentation. - Participate in Agile processes such as stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint planning to promote collaboration and accountability. Requirements - Location: Anywhere in the US. Compensation The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $155,000. The salary range describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this position across all US locations. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to relevant qualifications, depth of experience, skill set, certifications, training, education, and specific work location. The compensation packages may be adjusted based on candidate work location, due to differences in the cost of living for the given location. • Provide technical leadership for embedded platform modernization, product development, and next-generation system architectures within the business line. • Review the design and implementation of real-time embedded platforms for protection and communication systems using multi-core SoCs, RTOS (VxWorks, QNX, FreeRTOS), and embedded Linux. • Identify, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions for embedded software and firmware challenges across product development and lifecycle support. • Guide architectural implementation of virtualized firmware stacks, embedded containers, and real-time microservices for digital substations and edge computing applications. • Support adoption of embedded virtualization using lean hypervisors and modular software architectures that improve reliability, maintainability, and secure field-deployable service updates. • Chair design reviews for individual components, sub-assemblies, and key engineering deliverables in support of robust product execution. • Support technical risk identification and resolution for products and subsystems, helping teams address design, quality, and schedule concerns. • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps workflows, and automated test frameworks tailored to embedded environments. • Support architecture for edge software solutions for AI/ML-based diagnostics, adaptive protection, and predictive maintenance in secure real-time environments. • Organize and communicate lessons learned within the domain to improve engineering quality and prevent repeated issues. • Participate in patent evaluation activities and contribute to innovation through technical problem-solving, publications, or intellectual property development. • Represent the business in professional working groups and select customer or supplier engagements. • Maintain active relationships with relevant academic institutions and support technical competency development within the business line.
