Principal Engineer – Systems Protection, Relay Settings
Qualus
• Perform Protective Relay Design & Coordination: Design, specify, calculate settings, and coordinate protective relays and relay control schemes. • Modeling, short circuit and overstressed breaker studies as well as the protective relaying recommendations for proposed generation interconnections to a client’s electrical system. • Ensures all relay settings activities, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the company’s established policies and objectives, and with client design standards. • Confidently and comfortably present technical solutions to key customers respond in real time to technical concerns and answer questions in a knowledgeable, articulate manner. • Work collaboratively with the appropriate groups/ individuals in Qualus to develop and implement technical solutions that support the objectives of the Engineering Department. • Support multiple projects in parallel.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a power systems focus.
- An MS Degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the BS Engineering degree.
- International Engineering Degrees will be considered from an ABET accredited school.
- 12+ years of experience in protection and control engineering and relay settings.
- Must have demonstrated experience with CAPE and/or ASPEN.
- Professional Engineering (PE) registration is required.
- Professional Engineering registration in the working state a plus.
- Must have strong analytical and computer skills.
- Must be able to identify necessary software to complete needed design work.
- Strong commitment to customer service and care.
- Highly motivated "self‐starter".
- Proven multitasking skills.
- Excellent document management and organizational skills.
- CYME familiarity, reclosers/sectionalizing schemes/fuse coordination preferred.

Role Description We are looking for a Mission Lead, International to help Vannevar build and deepen relationships with allied defense and national security organizations around the world. This role sits at the intersection of business development, mission execution, and customer success. Roughly 50% of your time will be focused on identifying, developing, and expanding international opportunities, while the other 50% will be spent ensuring customers achieve meaningful operational outcomes with Vannevar's products. You will serve as both a trusted advisor and a strategic growth partner to allied military and government organizations. On any given trip, you may find yourself: - Briefing senior military leaders - Demonstrating Vannevar's software to operational users - Identifying new mission opportunities - Supporting a pilot deployment - Helping a customer navigate the path from initial interest to long-term adoption U.S. Persons status with at least a current Top Secret US DoD or IC clearance is required.
