Role Description This position will perform some or all of the following duties, concentrating on early-phase (concept, requirements, and design) activities of the Systems-Engineering Development Lifecycle: - Spearheading scheduling and tracking deadlines. - Lead the development of new system concepts by transforming stakeholder needs into easily reviewable technical approaches. - Perform requirements elicitation and decomposition using behavioral artifacts such as use cases, activity diagrams, and sequence diagrams. - Lead the development of physical and logical system models utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools. - Lead system interface development by converting system and interface requirements into message-level details. - Support formal and informal engineering technical reviews. - Create, review, and critique interface documents, system requirements, verification documentation, architectural documentation, and engineering estimates. - Interface with key stakeholders, including the MDA customer and working-level counterparts, as required. - Participate in Agile development planning and execution, including iteration planning and status reporting. Qualifications - Career level typically with an advanced degree and 3+ years experience or bachelor's with 5+ years experience or equivalent. - Wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in their field. - Provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with imaginative and thorough solutions. - Works under general direction; results are reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. - Frequent internal and external customer contacts; represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues. Requirements - Must have an active and transferable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the required level. - Must be able to maintain the required clearance. Preferred Qualifications - Systems Engineering/Architecture with Test Experience background (not required). - Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems engineers. - Demonstrated experience covering all responsibilities of this role. - Experience regularly interacting with the customer, specifically in elicitation of customer needs and requirements. - Experience with one or more elements of the Missile Defense System. - Experience with one or more elements involved in Space Defense, Space Domain Awareness, or other Space Missions. - Experience with complex Command and Control Systems, especially those with heavy networking capabilities. - Experience performing many responsibilities of this position, focusing on concept development and requirement decomposition. - Experience with using MBSE approaches and tools (e.g. Cameo). - Ability to clearly and concisely communicate (written and verbal) with others, present technical content, and receive critical feedback. - Ability to support short-notice and/or urgent tasks without a loss of efficiency.
