Private Client Relationship Manager

Whyte & Mackay

Role Description As the Private Client Relationship Manager, you will be responsible for developing and building an ongoing Rare Whisky (predominantly Dalmore) black book, building upon the successes of recent years. You will personally represent the brand and ‘hand sell’ exclusive, rare & limited edition bottling to UHNWI by cultivating and developing ongoing relationships with them. In conjunction with the private client team you will further develop our effective and efficient private client sales capabilities both internally and externally. - Ensure a planned approach to delivering Private Client targets and work with team mates to ensure all touch points are covered. - Ensure that any spend is captured and planned to enable commercial planning and delivery of A&P budgets. - In conjunction with the Rare Whisky Director create Private Client recruitment strategies across all our channels and markets. - Be the driving force behind our Exclusive Market Partnership strategies to ensure local buy in and the correct Private Client behaviours through our distributors for each opportunity. - Coach internal team members and distributor teams to work within the correct framework to deliver success. - Deliver and maintain a broker strategy to ensure we are always “front of mind” when they talk with their clients. - Coach, review and delegate work where necessary to ensure efficient use of resources. - Work with key customers as a Private Client Ambassador, delivering talks & training on the W&M rare whisky brands. - Develop personal expertise in Scotch Whisky production & in the nuances of the various regions, W&M brands and those of our competitors. - Be the rare whisky sales expert for the business. - Help the business understand how the Private Client world works and help them deliver better solutions to stay ahead of the competition. - Be a driving force in luxury partnerships. - Work with the wider teams to establish the correct relationship for the correct opportunity and coach wider teams to make more of these partnerships and avoid the transaction traps. Qualifications - Qualification within a business and/or marketing discipline would be preferred. - Significant sales experience of luxury goods, ideally but not essentially in spirits or champagne. - Experience working with a local distributor or third party to build a sustainable mutual business. - Fluency in English is required, other languages would be advantageous. - A large network of contacts within the financial sector would be beneficial. - Demonstrable knowledge & understanding of the UHNWI lifestyle in the market and how to access them. - Ideally well versed in fine wine, champagne & high-end spirits. - Understanding of investment funds and the financial world. - Working knowledge of the private client environment with experience that will challenge our thinking and enable us to continuously improve our offerings. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Grantmaking, these positions are focused on supporting the core business of grantmaking and grants administration and play a critical role in the Research Operations department. The Research Operations department has a unique vantage point across the Foundation and partners with programmatic teams and collaborates closely with various internal stakeholders to facilitate grantmaking, project and program management in support of the Foundation’s mission. These roles oversee and manage a portfolio of grants and projects, acting as a primary liaison between internal and external stakeholders at researchers, universities, private-public partnerships, and multi-partner consortia. These positions are central to ensure high quality user experiences for the Foundation’s research community and efficient/effective grants and project administration. This is a hybrid-flex position that will require in-person attendance at the Foundation’s office in New York City. Key Responsibilities: - Manage the lifecycle of a grant, including award administration, reporting, modifications, terminations and/or closures - Prepare all grant-related correspondence including agreements, payment schedules, and/or reporting requirements - Provide compliance-based review of budgets, financial statements, and expense and progress reports to ensure adherence to policies and procedures related to grantmaking - Maintain the integrity of systems of record to accurately track and communicate awarded progress in real-time (e.g., grants management system, internal file share, etc.) - Coordinate and/or support all pre-award activities associated with grantmaking, including (but not limited to) program launch application submission, peer review, and public announcement(s) of funding decisions - Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the Foundation’s Strategic Research Agenda and related programs/respective portfolios - Coordinate and manage the Foundation’s committees, working groups, and multi-partner consortia by working closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop agendas, coordinate logistics, prepare materials for discussions, circulateminutes, chair meetings as needed, and support execution of follow-up items/next steps - Proactively communicate the Foundation’s processes and procedures to grantees, applicants, and other external stakeholders - Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operational management of research grants and projects - Serve as educator, trainer, and partner for new hires and existing colleagues - Routinely review and recommend best practices to improve workflow and systems efficiency - Contribute to operational planning discussions and annual planning processes Qualifications and Skills: - Knowledge of grants management and managing a diverse grant portfolio - Knowledge of project management, operations, grants administration or combination thereof - Knowledge of grant management systems, comfortable utilizing multiple communication/collaboration tools platforms, and project management software applications - Excellent time and meeting management skills, ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects simultaneously - Exhibit exceptional attention to detail, considering how each detail contributes to the broader picture - Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills - Demonstrate the capability to work efficiently both autonomously and collaboratively as a valuable team member, including reporting to cross-functional managers - Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills - Willingness to adapt when necessary, comfortable with ambiguity and flexible to changing business dynamics and priorities - Proficient with MS Office and other related tools #LI-DNI Compensation & Benefits Individual compensation for this role is dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, skillsets, and applicable laws.
