Role Description We’re hiring a CFO who can be a true partner to the CEO: bring investor-grade financial leadership, build the finance engine, and help us raise meaningful capital fast. This is a high-ownership role at a pre-seed company. You’ll build structure without slowing us down, and you’ll be comfortable operating as both strategic lead and hands-on doer. What You’ll Do - Fundraising + Investor Readiness - Partner with the CEO to lead fundraising strategy, investor pipeline, and process execution - Strengthen the investor narrative and ensure the deck, model, and data room are diligence-ready - Drive investor communications, follow-ups, and weekly momentum tracking to keep the round moving - Support term sheet evaluation, negotiation, and closing mechanics - Financial Strategy + Operating Cadence - Own the financial model, runway planning, burn management, and scenario planning - Build budget and forecasting disciplines that scale through seed and beyond - Create board-ready reporting: KPIs, cash visibility, and decision-grade insights - Oversee accounting, controls, and vendors (and build a fractional bench as needed) - Governance + Compliance - Ensure cap table and equity administration readiness for fundraising - Establish investor-grade documentation and financial hygiene - Put in place lightweight controls and processes that reduce risk and build confidence Qualifications - 10+ years of senior finance leadership, ideally in venture-backed startups - A proven fundraising track record: you’ve helped close meaningful rounds, not just advised - Strong grasp of venture mechanics: SAFEs/notes, priced rounds, dilution, cap table, and term sheets - Clear financial storytelling: you can make numbers simple, credible, and compelling - Comfortable moving fast, making trade-offs, and building structure from scratch - Bonus: consumer apps, creator economy, marketplaces, or social platform experience Compensation - This is an equity-only opportunity at this stage. No salary or retainer. - Time-based vesting equity - A base equity grant that vests monthly over time (standard vesting schedule), aligned to role scope and commitment. - Milestone-based equity (fundraising outcomes) - Additional equity that vests based on fundraising performance, tied to timeline and amount raised, and earned only on closed funds (not soft commitments). - All equity and vesting terms will be documented in the CFO agreement before start.
