We own the end-to-end online customer service experience across web and native mobile, helping millions of buyers and sellers get fast, effective help every day. Partnering closely with Product, Design, Data, and Platform teams, we deliver intuitive, reliable, and scalable solutions that improve the end-to-end customer service journey. Our engineers work across frontend applications, backend services, APIs, and platform integrations using a modern, diverse tech stack that includes Java, Node.js, web services, native iOS and Android, and a variety of data stores such as NoSQL and Oracle, with a strong focus on quality, observability, and collaboration in a highly distributed environment. What You will Accomplish - Translate requirements into software designs and deliver clean, efficient, extensible, and maintainable code. - Architect, develop, and deploy highly scalable, resilient, and performant distributed systems and full-stack applications. - Boost team productivity by identifying and advocating opportunities for process and tooling improvements. - Anticipate areas of frequent change, and design with flexibility to improve long-term engineering velocity. - Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver innovative solutions aligned with development goals and principles. - Apply evidence-centered design to ensure features are testable, high-quality, and continuously deliverable. - Provide technical leadership: code reviews, ADR (Architecture Decision Record) feedback, mentoring, and coaching across teams. - Identify gaps and systemic issues, propose solutions, shape the engineering roadmap, and drive resolution. - Lead engineering support, release management, and on-call responsibilities for an always-on 24/7 site. What you will bring: - 4+ years of software development experience with strong computer science fundamentals and problem-solving skills. - Strong experience building full stack applications, including frontend development, backend services, and API integrations. - Deep expertise in Java (Spring / Spring Boot) and/or Python, with experience building scalable APIs using REST and GraphQL. - Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React, Marko, and modern web development frameworks. - Experience designing and integrating distributed systems, services, and data flows in a high-scale environment. - Solid understanding of databases and data access patterns, including Oracle, NoSQL, and GraphQL-based systems. - Familiarity with Agile development, CI/CD pipelines, Git, testing strategies, and modern engineering best practices. - Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as coding assistants, test generation, and code review aids to accelerate delivery while maintaining high code quality. Additional Details The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below: $98,000 - $173,600 Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). • Build agents that investigate incidents. They surface anomalies, answer "why is production broken?", and use ClickStack as their substrate. • Write skills, not just prompts. Build a library of reusable skills that captures how our team debugs, finds root causes, writes ClickHouse queries, and runs incident response, so agents pick up the right playbook instead of starting from scratch. • Own the agent stack end-to-end. Context engineering, tool design, evals, tracing, cost. You're responsible for whether the agent works in production. • Make ClickStack a great place to run AI workloads. Build the MCP servers, SDKs, and integrations that let customers' agents read telemetry, take action, and stay observable themselves. • Work in the open. Collaborate with OSS contributors and customers, debug their problems alongside them, and feed what you learn back into the product. • Tackle the hard parts. Latency, cost, context window limits, eval coverage, hallucinations on real telemetry.
