• Design and operate hybrid network infrastructure spanning data centres, WAN/LAN, and multi-cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) • Architect cloud networking - VPCs/VNets, transit gateways, peering, and private connectivity (Direct Connect, Cloud Interconnect, ExpressRoute) • Build secure, fault-tolerant on-prem-to-cloud connectivity with a consistent security posture • Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers • Implement and maintain security controls - NGFW, IDS/IPS, segmentation, and access controls • Monitor performance (SNMP, NetFlow/sFlow), troubleshoot complex issues, and minimise downtime • Lead changes through formal change management; plan and execute upgrades and migrations • Automate provisioning and configuration (Python, Bash, infrastructure-as-code) • Maintain documentation and DR/business-continuity plans; ensure regulatory compliance • Collaborate with security, platform, SRE, and compliance teams, and mentor junior engineers
Job Requirements
- Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching, load balancing
- Proven multi-cloud network experience across AWS, GCP, and Azure, plus hybrid connectivity
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama, and other NGFW platforms (FortiGate, Forcepoint, Cisco ASA/Firepower)
- Solid network security and compliance knowledge - ideally in a regulated/fintech setting
- Scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash)
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
- Nice to have: Arista (BGP internet borders), Cisco Nexus (core), Cisco SAN switches
- Detailed knowledge of: STP, 802.1Q, vPC/MLAG, LACP, PBR, FHRP (HSRP/VRRP), ACLs, NAT, QoS, IPSec VPN (AnyConnect, L2L), L2VPN/L3VPN, failover
- Practical experience with RIPE as a LIR

Overview The Network Engineer provides mid-level support for enterprise network operations, infrastructure maintenance, and troubleshooting activities critical to government users and systems. • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues involving firewalls, switches, wireless access points, VLANs, routing, VPNs, and general connectivity. • Support and maintain firewall environments, including rule changes, VPN configuration, firmware updates, and security reviews. • Configure and support managed switches, including VLANs, trunking, port assignments, PoE, and firmware maintenance. • Support wireless networks, including SSID configuration, access point updates, coverage reviews, and performance troubleshooting. • Monitor client networks and respond to alerts related to device availability, performance, and connectivity. • Assist with network project work, including firewall replacements, switch upgrades, wireless deployments, and network refresh initiatives. • Perform network assessments to identify end-of-life, end-of-support, unsupported, or misconfigured network equipment. • Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including topology diagrams, device inventories, IP addressing, VLANs, and configuration notes. • Coordinate with vendors for support cases, RMAs, licensing, and troubleshooting when needed. • Follow established change management, documentation, and security processes. • Work escalated network tickets from the service desk, NOC, or client-facing teams.
