Role Description You play an essential role in the development of our innovative chemical and biological products, their production and bringing them to market by identifying and addressing intellectual property requirements. - You screen existing patents, and you formulate advice on freedom-to-operate versus third-party patent rights. You gather external opinions if needed. - You pro-actively support the R&D department with strategic input from an intellectual property perspective. - You screen internal R&D results in order to protect knowledge underpinning products and processes. - You support your IP colleagues in the cooperation with external patent attorneys to file and defend patent applications at official patent offices. - You support in challenging the validity of third-party patent rights. - You continuously follow evolutions in patent law and support in the implementation. - You work closely with your IP colleagues and support colleagues from other departments (R&D, Product Concepts, Legal, …) in different IP related matters. Qualifications - You have a Master’s degree in biochemistry or chemistry, or equivalent. - You have at least a first experience in patents within the fields of chemistry and/or biology. - You have knowledge of international laws regarding intellectual property and of intellectual property commercialization. - You are well-versed in searching and use of patent databases. - You speak and write English fluently. Your communication is clear and concise, and you can adapt to different stakeholders. Knowledge of other languages is a bonus. - You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - You have a growth mindset and are willing to continuously learn and develop. - You can work autonomously and attach great importance to teamwork. - You are well organized and can handle several projects/dossiers simultaneously. - You can identify with our FRAMILY values: Fun, Respect, Ambition, teaMwork, Innovation, fLexibility and familY. Role Description The research assistant will work closely with Dr. Anna Kaplan to identify and research Black women employed by the Federal Writers’ Project in the 1930s. The goal is to compile as much information about these women through online records (census records, Ancestry.com, historic newspapers, and digitized state archives). All research will be conducted remotely. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background—especially in history, excellent skills in being organized with detailed note taking, and a passion for research. Previous experience with census records and Ancestry.com is a plus but not required. Essential Functions: - Research Assistance: - Collaborate with the professor on an ongoing research project. - Compile lists of FWP writers and assistants and identify which ones were Black women. - Locate as much information as possible about these Black women using digital resources. - Identify specific archival collections for future in-person research. - Administrative Tasks: - Organize information found and keep records of all archives and collections exhausted. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part-time, 20 - 25 hours per week. Salary Range: $18.40 - $22.50 per hour. Role Description This position is responsible for research and development of Plan medical policy in conjunction with medical director and/or manager. This includes coordination of policy implementation and dissemination of Medical Policy updates across the enterprise. In addition, this position must review annual code changes and determine the impact on medical policies. Role Description Professor Michael Wahman at the LBJ School is seeking an undergraduate research assistant (URA) to assist with content coding of English-language parliamentary speeches from Malawi, Zambia, Ghana, and Zimbabwe. This opportunity is open to current undergraduate students at the LBJ School. The hired URA will work for 10h/week throughout the summer, with some flexibility. The position is suitable for students interested in machine learning/African politics and/or women in politics. - The URA will be part of a collaborative project between Dr. Michael Wahman (LBJ School), Dr. Nikolaos Frantzeskakis (University of Birmingham, UK), and Dr. Valeriya Mechkova (University of Gothenburg, Sweden). - The project uses a unique dataset of parliamentary transcripts to establish how members of parliament have changed their engagement on issues related to women’s rights over time. - The RA will work collaboratively (remotely) with a group of RAs from the University of Birmingham in the UK. - The URA will mainly work to code the content of a large number of speeches. - The URA will receive training in content coding by Nikolaos Frantzeskakis, an expert in machine learning. - The hand-coded speeches will be used to train a neural network transformer model.
