• Draft and edit communications materials, including blog posts, email announcements, website content, press releases, and program updates. • Translate technical clean energy topics into clear and accessible communications for a range of audiences. • Collaborate with program teams to develop communications strategies and materials for reports, tools, and initiatives. • Manage and contribute to IREC’s digital communications channels, including social media platforms and the IREC website. • Develop social media content and strategies to expand IREC's reach and engagement. • Maintain and update website content to ensure accuracy and timeliness. • Support the development and distribution of email communications to IREC’s audiences, including newsletters and program announcements. • Assist with maintaining subscriber lists and ensuring effective audience segmentation. • Work with program teams to develop outreach materials, including fact sheets, case studies, blog posts, and graphics, that highlight program achievements and impact. • Coordinate with external partners and collaborators to support communications related to joint initiatives and projects. • Track and analyze communications metrics, including website analytics, email engagement, and social media performance. • Contribute to internal reporting on communications outcomes and identify opportunities to strengthen impact. • Assist with media outreach and press engagement when appropriate. • Contribute to new communications initiatives and special projects as opportunities arise.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public policy, environmental studies, or a related field
- 3–5 years of professional communications experience
- Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to communicate complex topics clearly to non-technical audiences
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners
- Experience with email marketing tools and CRM systems
- Experience managing organizational social media accounts
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software platforms and digital tools
- Interest in clean energy, climate policy, or related fields
- Familiarity with website platforms such as WordPress
- Basic graphic design skills for reports, presentations, or social media graphics
- Experience analyzing communications metrics and performance data
- Knowledge of or experience in the clean energy sector

As Internal Communications Lead, you'll build and own the systems, channels, and programs that keep Plaids informed, aligned, and energized about our mission and the opportunity ahead. This spans employee-facing comms and programming across channels, including programming and producing monthly All Hands and Half-yearly Business Reviews, and supporting leaders with change management. This is a builder role: you'll take what exists and programmatize it, defining the infrastructure, cadences, and editorial strategy that elevate how we communicate as a company. Role Description The Communications Officer will lead external communications for the Philanthropic Partnerships Team (PPT), helping to shape and share the team’s story with global audiences. In this role, you’ll craft key narratives, drive media engagement, and manage high-impact storytelling across platforms, initiatives, and regions. You will collaborate with colleagues across the foundations, especially in the Communications Division, as well as with external vendors and agencies. You’ll work closely with the Audience Engagement Officer to ensure public-facing messages are aligned with partner-facing narratives and timelines. - Reporting to the Deputy Director of Shared Services, this position is a limited-term position for 11 months. - Relocation will not be provided. Our preference is for this role to be based in Seattle, WA. In some instances, we are open to hiring a US-domestic remote based employee.
