Role Description As a Senior Software Developer on the CAP OpEx team, you own the application-level quality and tooling layer of our platform. You build systems that other engineers depend on, focusing on: - End-to-end testing platform: Architect and own CAP's e2e test suite across web and React Native mobile. - SDK observability & instrumentation: Instrument our Account-Opening SDK with standardized analytics events and structured logging. - Test account & staging tooling: Own and evolve CAP's staging and production test account tooling. - Developer automation: Build internal tools and automation that cut manual operational work across the CAP domain. - Quality gates & coverage: Drive shift-left quality practices. Qualifications - Demonstrated experience building developer tooling, test frameworks, or internal platforms. - Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript with hands-on experience in React and/or React Native. - Backend development experience (Ruby, Python, Go, or equivalent). - A quality engineering mindset focused on testability, observability, and reliability. - An AI-native approach to your craft, using agentic coding tools effectively. - Nice to have: experience designing and implementing end-to-end or integration test frameworks. - Nice to have: experience instrumenting frontend SDKs with analytics or observability tooling. Requirements - Within 1 month, you'll: - Learn about the foundations of Wealthsimple and our current goals. - Meet other new Wealthsimplers and key people from each department. - Gather an understanding of our technology through pair-programming and onboarding sessions. - Have an assigned buddy to assist you in getting up-to-speed. - Within 3 months, you'll: - Learn Wealthsimple’s technical stack and apply our development patterns. - Buddy up for your first on-call rotation. - Contribute and support work in a new or existing product. - Learn how to query our data to measure the impact of your work. - Support over a million clients by shipping your first project or feature. - Within 6 months, you'll: - Reliably ship new features to our clients. - Contribute to or lead the technical design of a project. - Collaborate with other developers while mentoring and providing feedback. - Develop a big picture perspective of our tools and frameworks. - Within 12 months, you'll: - Lead your first project, planning and communicating progress. - Provide leverage to our engineering teams by shipping new best practices. - Work closely with product and design teams, contributing feedback on design and UX.
