Role Description Join a Leading Team as Our Next Bid Writing Manager Location: Home based Lead and manage a high performing team of Bid Writers and Development Support Coordinators responsible for delivering all bids across the Municipal Services Division. This role will involve inspiring, motivating and supporting the team to produce high quality written submissions for a wide range of contracts, including waste treatment and disposal, household collections, and street cleansing services, ensuring all bids are professionally managed and aligned with business objectives. Your core responsibilities - Lead the review and final sign off of all method statements, selection questionnaires and pre market engagement responses, ensuring every submission is accurate, compliant and high quality. - Partner with Business Development Managers to create compelling quality responses throughout every stage of the bid process. - Drive continuous improvement of bid templates, processes and submission standards across the Business Development team. - Coordinate internal reporting, progress meetings, approval papers and Investment Committee submissions to keep bids on track and fully governed. - Work closely with departments including Fleet, HR, IT and Procurement to ensure technical content remains relevant, accurate and up to date. - Support strategic Bid / No Bid decisions alongside senior leadership, helping prioritise the strongest commercial opportunities. - Manage and develop the Bid Writing team while maintaining a strong library of model answers, case studies and best practice content across Municipal Services. - Build strong relationships across the business by attending regional meetings, identifying growth opportunities and supporting wider business objectives including the Biffa Balanced Business Plan. Qualifications - Degree educated or equivalent qualification, with strong written English skills and excellent attention to detail. - Previous experience within a tendering, bidding or pricing environment, with a track record of producing successful submissions. - Strong ability to write clear, persuasive and high quality bid content within tight deadlines. - Knowledge of the waste industry or wider environmental services sector would be highly advantageous. - Confident communicator, capable of building strong working relationships across multiple departments and stakeholders. - Highly organised and commercially aware, with the ability to manage multiple bids and priorities simultaneously.
