Medical Coder
Terrestris LLC
• Perform remote coding on all inpatient admissions and outpatient visits assigned by VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS). • Provide all labor, equipment, and supplies for coding medical records from VA Portland HCS. • Access VA Portland’s VistA/CPRS system to read and code medical records identified by Portland, and enter codes into the approved coding application. • Perform the services following coding guidelines and appropriate references. • Create reports, monitor coders, and make recommendations. • Code all cases no later than 7 days after receipt (outpatient) or 7 days after discharge date (inpatient). • Priority cases that are assigned will be required to be coded within one day of receipt.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in outpatient and/or inpatient coding.
- Completion of an accredited program in coding certification, Health Information Management (HIM), or Health Information Technology (HIT)
- American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS or CCS-P), or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coding (COC) credential (formerly CPC-H).
- Previous experience with the VA is a plus.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.

Role Description OSIS is seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Medical Biller to join our Revenue Cycle team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a remote environment, enjoys working with data and payer information, and is passionate about supporting community health organizations. As a Medical Biller, you will play a critical part in the revenue cycle by: - Performing payment posting for multiple FQHC and CHC organizations - Posting patient and insurance payments accurately and promptly - Reconciling deposits, remittances, and electronic payment files - Processing daily, weekly, and monthly medical billing workflows - Researching payer requirements and staying up to date with coding and billing rules - Assisting with AR follow‑up, billing inquiries, and customer service tasks - Accessing payer portals, state/federal sites, and clearinghouses for billing tasks - Supporting member organizations with high‑quality communication and service - Partnering with internal OSIS departments to resolve issues and improve workflows - Participating in training and maintaining knowledge of billing and regulatory updates Qualifications - 1+ years of medical billing experience - Experience using clearinghouses and healthcare portals - Knowledge of ICD‑10 and CPT coding - Strong attention to detail and communication skills - Customer service–oriented mindset Requirements - FQHC billing experience (preferred) - Dental or Behavioral Health billing experience (preferred) - Experience with NextGen EPM, EDR, or Optical (preferred) - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (preferred) - Must be NextGen Certified (NCP) or able to obtain certification within 6 months of hire Benefits - 100% Remote work environment - Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET - Minimal travel required (5–10 days per year) Compensation Range $18.00 - $27.00
