Credentialing Specialist
Mass General Brigham
Role Description Assists with all functions related to the credentialing and re-credentialing process for physicians and allied health personnel. - Assist with activities associated with physician and advanced practice provider’s credentialing and recredentialing; track and maintain credentialing expiring documents. - Maintain the integrity of provider data in the enterprise credentialing system by ensuring data is entered and updated accurately. - Communicate with internal and external physicians, allied health professionals, other healthcare professionals and managers regarding questions or issues in an effort to gather and maintain credentialing information. - Assist with initial and reappointment application in accordance with policies and procedures; ensure that the credentialing application is completed within an established time frame. - Perform routine credentialing application audits for quality, completeness, and accuracy of data, identify non-compliant items, and identify issues that require additional investigation and evaluations. - Utilize credentialing websites to obtain primary source verifications, and assist with verifying credentialing elements. - Maintain competency on nationally recognized credentialing related initiatives through participation with NAMSS and MAMSS, journal articles, online education, webinars and other industry related news. Qualifications - High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred. - 3-5 years of experience in credentialing or a related field required. - Working knowledge of general office practices and software applications and database management. - Demonstrated understanding of credentialing policies and procedures, as well as accreditation and regulatory requirements relating to the medical staff. - Strong organizational skills. - Ability to manage demanding workload; self-motivated; able to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision. - Strong analytical skills. - Strong interpersonal skills. - Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels within and external to the organization. • Process claims in accordance with plan benefits. • Maintain minimum quality and production levels as determined by the Claims Manager. • Maintain updated filings for claim benefit investigation (medical necessity reviews, etc.) as required in accordance with plan benefits. • Prepare filings for outside vendors (subrogation) as required in accordance with the plan benefits. • Handle correspondence from Plan Correspondent and/or employees in a timely and efficient manner. • Resolve claim issues that do not require outside involvement. • Serve as back-up to Customer Service department, as needed. • Perform other various tasks that are deemed necessary and equitable by the Claims Manager
