Job Description
Developer Relations Lead
Flox
Role Description As our Developer Relations Lead, you’ll be the public, technical, and human face of Flox to software engineers and builders worldwide. You’ll build integrations, demos, proof-of-concepts, and real technical deliverables that showcase what’s possible with Flox and then use those artifacts to drive Flox adoption and activation. You’ll help organizations understand the value of reproducible environments while nurturing a thriving professional community around Flox. You’ll also play a key role in helping Flox’s ecosystem grow. While this is not a sales role, you’ll naturally surface new opportunities through advocacy, education, and technical partnership by translating community engagement into qualified interest and adoption. And because you're embedded inside the marketing team, you'll bring an engineer's mindset to the marketing function itself — building agents, automations, and systems that let a small team ship like a large one. This is a highly autonomous position: you’ll influence direction and lead by doing. Core Responsibilities - Champion the Software Professional Experience - Own the touchpoints for the end-to-end journey of engineers, operators, and platform teams using Flox. - Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to build integrations, demos, tutorials, and technical documentation that show Flox in production-like contexts and make adoption seamless. - Provide field-level technical support during pilots or early evaluations, helping prospective teams succeed quickly. - Community Growth & Ecosystem Activation - Build and sustain an inclusive, knowledgeable community across GitHub, Discord, LinkedIn, Reddit, BlueSky, X, and other professional spaces. - Host workshops, office hours, and community meetups that connect users directly with Flox engineers turning users into advocates. - Forge partnerships with leading developer tools and platforms to integrate Flox into the products engineers already use every day. - Public Advocacy & Outreach - Represent Flox at conferences, panels, podcasts, and meetups by sharing stories and use cases that connect technology to human impact. - Publish content (tutorials, case studies, blog posts, livestreams) that educates and attracts new interest in Flox. - Marketing Systems & Automation - Build agents and automations that handle ongoing marketing work — monitoring competitor activity, tracking brand sentiment, generating targeted content, or repurposing long-form content into channel-native formats. Qualifications - 6+ years in Developer Relations, software engineering, or solutions engineering roles. - Strong technical ability. Comfortable building and shipping working demos, integrations, and automation projects (Go, Python, Rust, or shell). - Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and Sales to move technical conversations toward adoption. - Deep understanding of software delivery, CI/CD, reproducibility, or platform engineering. - Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, in writing and on stage. - High self-direction – you manage priorities, and execute with accountability. Bonus Points For - Familiarity with Nix or reproducible build systems. - Experience working with platform or infrastructure products in enterprise settings. - Prior work bridging DevRel and go-to-market teams (technical enablement, field demos, early proof-of-concepts). - Contributions to open-source developer tooling. - Experience building production marketing or GTM systems using LLM-based agents. - Familiarity with AI search optimization (AEO) and how LLM-based discovery surfaces are changing buyer behavior. Success in This Role Looks Like - Deliver 5 new integrations or demo packages (code, videos, docs, distribution) per quarter that showcase direct impact to sign ups, partnerships or qualified leads. - Grow and sustain an active, engaged community across GitHub, Discord, and professional networks as measured by participation and response rate. - Generate a steady stream of qualified interest (≈5–10 per quarter) through events, content, and relationship-driven advocacy. - Achieve consistent visibility and influence via 3 - 5 high-impact talks, workshops, or published pieces each quarter. - Build Flox’s reputation as a trusted, human-centered brand – reflected in user feedback, collaboration quality, and internal alignment across teams.
