In this vital role you will report to the Oncology Strategy Executive Director. This position may be based on our main corporate campus in Thousand Oaks, CA or remote.   The Director will serve as a scientific and strategic leader for Amgen’s Partners of Choice (APoC) academic collaboration network—a flagship initiative connecting Amgen’s oncology R&D organization with leading clinical and translational scientists across top global institutions. This role is deeply embedded within the scientific enterprise and is critical to advancing research aligned to areas of high unmet medical need.   This position requires a strong scientific foundation and the ability to engage as a peer with academic investigators and physician leaders. The Director will partner with internal R&D leadership to define key scientific priorities and lead the development of external collaborations that inform and accelerate the oncology pipeline.   The successful candidate will operate effectively in ambiguous, early-stage environments, applying scientific judgment and strategic thinking to evaluate opportunities and guide complex collaborations. DPOM Adoption and Capability Building - Accelerate adoption of DPOM through hands-on coaching, embedded execution, and practical application of product standards. - Help teams move from feature/output roadmaps to outcome-oriented product strategies and success measures. - Upskill product managers, product owners, business partners, technology leads, and cross-functional team members through real product work. - Identify recurring capability gaps, adoption barriers, and product management anti-patterns, and partner with Product Management Hub leadership to address them. - Contribute insights from embedded engagements to improve DPOM playbooks, training, tools, standards, and operating rhythms. Stakeholder Partnership and Enterprise Influence - Partner closely with business functions, digital product leadership, technology leaders, and enabling teams to support adoption of product ways of working. - Influence senior stakeholders to shift from project-based delivery and stakeholder-request roadmaps toward empowered, outcome-driven product teams. - Serve as a trusted product leader who can operate credibly with executives, product teams, technology teams, and business partners. - Balance enterprise DPOM consistency with practical implementation in different product and business contexts. - Represent the Product Management Hub in discussions about product maturity, capability development, adoption barriers, and value realization. Measurement, Learning, and Continuous Improvement - Define and track success measures for Catalyst engagements, including product outcomes, adoption outcomes, team maturity, and capability growth. - Monitor engagement impact and use data and qualitative feedback to refine the Catalyst model. - Surface insights, risks, and recommendations to Product Management Hub leadership. - Convert learnings from Catalyst engagements into reusable practices, examples, playbook improvements, and enterprise capability-building opportunities. - Help establish product management as a durable function and leadership discipline across Amgen.
