Title: Toxicologist - Consultant Location: New York City, San Francisco, Boston Department: Science Job Description: Inductive Bio is an AI drug discovery partner. We build virtual labs that help drug discovery teams make better decisions, faster, across the full DMTA cycle. Our platform includes Beacon-1 ADMET prediction models, human dose projection tools, and Indy, an AI medicinal chemistry assistant. Through partnerships with CROs, we also offer innovative synthesis approaches, direct-to-dose testing, and cost-effective tier 1 ADME panels that enable initial human PK projection, closing the loop from computational design to experimental validation. Together, these power dozens of small molecule and beyond-rule-of-five programs for biotech and pharma partners. Beacon-1 placed 1st in both the 2025 Polaris and 2026 OpenADMET-ExpansionRx blind competitions, ahead of Merck & Co + NVIDIA and EMD Serono. We've raised $30M from Obvious Ventures, a16z Bio + Health, and Lux Capital, and were selected for a $21M ARPA-H CATALYST award to develop next-generation toxicity models. We are seeking a senior Toxicologist with 10-15+ years of industry experience to join our cross functional team and help launch and scale our toxicology product offerings. This is a consulting position with a minimum of 5-10 hours/week initially with the potential to scale up. You’ll work directly with partner teams to guide safety strategy for drug programs, shape the design and scientific underpinnings of our AI-powered ADME-Tox software to help you do toxicology work more efficiently, and ultimately help accelerate drug discovery across numerous drug development programs. What you’ll do: - Launch and run our AI-enabled toxicology embedded experts programs across multiple customers: - Support target safety assessment and discovery toxicology strategy - Interpret in vitro and in vivo safety signals in exposure context - Build partnerships with CROs to offer our partners streamlined study design, management, execution, and interpretation - Attend project team meetings, communicate toxicology research and signals clearly, and help teams make confident go/no-go decisions - Guide the development of best-in-class AI for toxicology tools through close collaboration with Inductive’s team of machine learning and software engineers and active use of these tools in real toxicology programs we support - Join business development calls with potential partners to act as a scientific leader and domain expert Who you are: - You have a PhD in toxicology, pharmacology, or a closely related discipline and 10–15+ years of industry experience across discovery and development-stage toxicology, ideally with multiple drugs in the clinic. - You have been trained at or alongside top-tier pharma organizations and understand how mid-to-large pharma safety teams operate. - You know how to guide discovery-stage toxicology decision support: compound triage, backup ranking, SAR interpretation, in vitro/in silico signal interpretation, and “what experiment next?” - You can execute on experiments with CROs: adjusting study designs to align with target/indication needs and exposure estimates, managing study director relationships, and acting on study signals outstanding toxicology judgement. - You are a strong cross-functional communicator: able to make a confident, defensible recommendation under ambiguity and explain it clearly to a medicinal chemist, a program lead, or a regulatory reviewer. - You are critical but open-minded about AI and in silico approaches to toxicology. You know where computational tools are and aren't trustworthy, you're comfortable collaborating with ML and software engineers, and you're genuinely excited to help build the next generation of these tools rather than just consume them. - You are excited to chart the course of a fast-growing startup while collaborating deeply with a cross-disciplinary team of chemists, machine learning engineers, software engineers, and business professionals.
