Western Nevada College (WNC) is seeking a part-time, remote Green Business Advisor to support the Nevada Green Business Network (NVGBN), a free statewide program that helps small and medium-sized businesses reduce costs, conserve resources, and achieve green certification. The Green Business Advisor will work closely with the Green Business Program Coordinator to recruit, advise, and certify businesses in Northern Nevada, with a focus on high-impact sectors such as auto repair shops and breweries. This position blends sustainability advising, business outreach, technical assistance, and relationship-building. This is a grant-funded, part-time position for the 2025-2027 grant period. Some on-the-job training will be provided. Key Responsibilities: Business Recruitment & Outreach - Conduct targeted outreach to small and medium-sized businesses in Northern Nevada - Recruit new program participants, particularly in automotive and brewery sectors - Represent the program at community events, business expos, and partner meetings - Deliver presentations to chambers, industry associations, and trade groups Green Certification & Technical Assistance - Guide businesses through Nevada Green Business certification requirements - Conduct site visits to verify that all green criteria are met - Support businesses in implementing sustainability measures and purchasing policies - Track certification progress and documentation Program Systems & Data Management - Learn and utilize GreenBizTracker to manage business records and certification status - Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for grant compliance - Collect environmental outcomes from businesses for NVGBN’s annual impact report Peer-to-Peer Network Engagement - Help coordinate and manage peer networking opportunities (virtual and in-person) - Support development of sector-specific roundtables (e.g., auto shops, breweries) Event & Program Support - Assist with tabling, outreach campaigns, and community visibility - Support marketing and communications initiatives as needed Hiring Supervisor: If you have questions about this role or would like to check on the status of an application, please contact the hiring supervisor/department: - Erica Gallegos: erica.gallegos@wnc.edu or (775) 445 4423 Qualifications: Required: - Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, public administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) - 2+ years of professional experience in sustainability, energy efficiency, environmental programs, or small business support - Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally in Northern Nevada Preferred: - Familiarity with small business operations - Knowledge of energy efficiency, waste reduction, or LEAN manufacturing - Experience working with automotive, manufacturing, brewing, or food production sectors - Experience delivering workshops, presentations, and/or one-on-one advising - Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Compensation: $32 an hour.
