Role Description Provide independent medical documentation review and functional capacity analysis to support RA determinations under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and aligned with EEOC. - No patient care - No medical exams - Record based review only (paper file review) - Physician (MO/DO) Qualifications - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. - Licensed physician in at least one U.S. jurisdiction with an active, unrestricted medical license in good standing is required. - Board certification or board eligible in a relevant specialty (preferred internal medicine, family medicine, psychiatry). - Minimum 5 - 7 years of progressively responsible post-residency relevant clinical practice experience. - Demonstrated ability to independently review and interpret complex medical documentation, including the duration (temporary vs. permanent). - Demonstrated experience reviewing multi-system medical records, chronic, acute, and episodic conditions. - Experience assessing functional limitations, and preparation of written clinical opinions for non-clinical review requiring advance medical judgement. - Familiarity with American with Disability Act, Reasonable Accommodations Program, prior experience writing medical legal opinions. Requirements - Conduct independent review of medical documentation. - Analyze diagnosis and sufficiency, and functional limitations (not just the condition). - Alignment with essential job functions. - Provide written clinical opinions including whether impairment substantially limits major life activities, functional restrictions and duration, consistency of documentation, and need for clarification or additional medical information with recommended follow-up questions. - Advising on medical plausibility of requested accommodations. - HIPPAA aligned confidentiality. - Defensible, audit ready documentation. In addition to pre-service, admission, and concurrent review determinations, this position will be responsible for managing length of stay, discharge planning, resources, and identification of potential quality of care or safety concerns.
