Trending Topics Writer
GAMURS Group
• Write 1-4 short-form articles per day, focusing on trending news, cultural events, politics, social media happenings, and entertainment news. • Pitch articles that are suitable for a variety of traffic referral sources (including search engines, syndication platforms, and social media) and also in line with the voice and style of the target websites. • Monitor news cycles and pitch either breaking news or appropriate short-form features that will provide a unique angle of coverage. • Write articles based on pitches from the editorial staff. • Put the factual accuracy of reporting front and center in your work. • Utilize best practices for referrers and partners to ensure the best possible visibility. • Be passionate and communicative with other staff, and engage with the pieces that you choose to write.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience covering news, entertainment, politics, or cultural content.
- Ability to produce clean copy to a high standard of English.
- Familiarity with WordPress, Trello, Slack, and other common systems and programs used in the industry.
- An eye for an attention-grabbing featured image.
- Ability to tailor stories to different platforms and syndication services.
- Ability to cover local news stories and give them national appeal.
- Drive to dig beyond the surface level of stories and provide additional context, factual information, and commentary for audiences.

Qualifications - Must be available to volunteer 8-10 hours a week. - Excellent writing, editing and journalistic skills with ability to produce content in a fast-paced environment. - APA Citation experience is a plus. - News and Educational style blogging, writing, or content creation skills. - Studying for or have a University degree in Journalism, Business, Arts, or any programs providing strong English language training or candidates with strong English language skills. - Experience producing and editing original content is a plus. - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. - Passionate about creating engaging content on multiple platforms. - Keen to learn, willing to work hard, maintaining productivity and committed to the job.
