Adjunct Instructor in Chemistry
UNITY ENVIRONMENTAL UNIVERSITY
Role Description Unity Environmental University Distance Education is seeking enthusiastic individuals to teach courses for our online baccalaureate degree programs. Courses are online and run for five weeks in eight terms for baccalaureate programs. Position Specific Responsibilities and Expectations - This position is responsible for facilitating engagement in 5-week undergraduate-level courses in Introductory Chemistry and/or related courses. - Courses are taught asynchronously with an average of 20 students per course. - Instructors must meet expectations for timely feedback, engagement in Discussion Board tasks, and responsiveness to students. Unity Environmental University Institutional Responsibilities - Demonstrates commitment to Unity Environmental University’s core values and serves as a role model for the Institution’s standards of conduct. - Contributes to the Institution’s commitment to sustainability and supports a diverse and inclusive working and learning environment. - Follows safety and infection control policies while assisting with their enforcement. - Assumes responsibility to maintain and upgrade professional knowledge and skills with regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws. - Actively participates in Unity Environmental University Professional Development days and required annual trainings. - Demonstrates a high degree of commitment to customer service and student success. - Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications - The ideal candidate will possess a terminal degree (e.g., PhD) in chemistry or a related discipline, or a master’s degree with ample professional experience in the field. - Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). - Must have strong organizational and time management skills. - Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately using e-mail and digital conferencing tools. - Personal commitment to the environmental focus and mission of the college. Preferred Education, Skills and Competencies - Experience teaching adult learners and/or teaching in an online context. - Experience using Canvas or other Learning Management System to facilitate learning. Location Unity Environmental University's Distance Education curriculum is 100% online. Our Distance Education Adjuncts will teach remotely and are required to reside within the United States for the entire duration of the academic term in which they are teaching. It is the responsibility of the adjunct to ensure that they are working in a state that aligns with the tax information reported to HR. Benefits - Retirement Plan with up to 8% match.
