Role Description As the Director Payments, you will oversee and manage all aspects of payment processing strategy, ensuring effectiveness, efficiency, security, and compliance. You will drive process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance our payment processing capabilities to best serve our members. A key responsibility is owning the forecasting and financial analysis of authorization rates, declines and payment‑processing fees, and collaborating with payments operations to translate performance trends into accurate revenue planning, monthly forecasts and unit-economic insights. We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong track record of improving and managing payment strategy. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is driven by the opportunity to lead a functional area. This role requires experience in managing the underlying payment activities for card products and the financial outcomes they drive. This position reports to the VP of FP&A and can be fully remote (only from one of the 16 U.S. states where IPSY has a business presence). What You’ll Be Doing: - Develop a short and long-term payment strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business objectives. - Lead the execution of all payments related initiatives including, but not limited to, implementing new payments products and/or processes and CRM campaigns. - Own the monthly forecast inputs for payment authorization rates, declines, recovery rates and processing fees. - Identify and lead the implementation of industry-leading payment solutions that enhance customer experience, reduce costs, and drive revenue growth. - Work with partners (card networks, processors, and banks), partner dealers, and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve issues detected with the company’s merchant processor programs and payment activities. - Collaborate with the payments operations team to review analyses of payment processing data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, providing leadership with clear visibility into financial risk, opportunity, and the drivers of payment success. - Develop and implement strategies to optimize payment processing efficiency and minimize errors and fees. - Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, including PCI DSS. - Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technological advancements in payment processing. - Lead the strategic aspects of all card services processing activities. - Research and identify additional payment products to augment the company’s overall products and services. - Provide standardized metrics and reporting to the executive management team regarding the performance of the company’s payment products. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. - 10+ years of experience in payment processing or financial operations, including direct experience with subscription/recurring payment processing and at least 3 years in a leadership role. - Deep understanding of payment processing systems, different payment methods, payment messaging, payment routing, and industry regulations. - Well-rounded understanding of compliance and risks surrounding payment products. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-departmental teams. - Excellent collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
