Product Manager, Platform Location: Remote USA About Panorama Panorama Education is a fast-growing technology company focused on helping students achieve academic success and well-being. More than 2,000 K-12 school districts serving 15 million students across all 50 states have adopted Panorama to understand and support students across academics, attendance, behavior, and life skills development.  About the Role As Product Manager for our Platform/SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) squad, you will own the definition and delivery of the foundational platform capabilities that power Panorama’s products and teams. This includes shared infrastructure, internal tooling, and platform services that enable teams to build, operate, and scale reliably. You will work on the Platform/SRE squad focused on improving Panorama’s infrastructure, reliability, and developer experience. You’ll partner closely with engineers to turn complex and evolving technical and operational needs into clear, prioritized initiatives that strengthen the foundation as Panorama grows. This is a role for a PM who wants deep ownership of how a platform is built, operated, and sustained over time. You’re comfortable working in complex technical spaces, making tradeoffs that balance today’s needs with long-term health, and helping teams turn expansive problems into clear, actionable direction. What You’ll Do - Own your squad’s roadmap, prioritizing initiatives aligned with overall product strategy - Partner closely with your squad’s engineering manager and engineers to determine scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs, grounding tactical decisions in technical reality - Balance near-term stability and resilience with longer-term platform investments, making intentional focus decisions over time - Apply strong scope definition & discipline, breaking large or cross-cutting efforts into incremental, achievable slices with clear goals and success criteria. - Identify friction points and opportunities across the organization where platform investments can unlock speed, quality, and consistency. - Ensure platform solutions are intuitive, well-documented, and broadly adopted by the teams that rely on them. - Align platform priorities across the Technology organization, ensuring work supports both near-term product needs and long-term architecture. - Communicate platform priorities and tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders both in and out of the Technology team, and effectively articulate the impact for broader audiences - Define and evolve platform capabilities that enable teams to build and operate AI-powered product experiences safely, reliably, and at scale, with appropriate guardrails for privacy, compliance, and trust.

Job Requirements

  • What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of product management experience, ideally working on platform, infrastructure-adjacent, or internal product areas in a technology-driven organization
  • Strong technical fluency and the ability to understand complex systems and architectural tradeoffs, with experience working closely with engineers
  • Demonstrated ability to define clear scope and success criteria for complex or cross-cutting work
  • Comfort operating in environments where priorities evolve due to operational needs, incidents, or external commitments
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and executive leaders
  • Experience partnering across multiple teams and functions (ex: Security, IT, Legal, partner product teams) to deliver shared capabilities that serve diverse stakeholders
  • A product mindset focused on usability, adoption, and impact, even when building internal or foundational systems
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to lead through influence
  • Familiarity with security, privacy, or compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, GDPR, or FERPA is a bonus, not a requirement
  • Experience working on or adjacent to AI powered systems, or demonstrated curiosity about how AI technologies impact platform design, operations, and product development.

Benefits

  • Salary Range $122,447 - $180,069
  • Competitive salary and benefits (including equity, health, dental & vision, retirement contribution, parental leave, and mental health & wellness support).

• Own the Product: Develop, prioritize and implement product roadmaps (typically 6-12 months) grounded in user insights, field learnings, stakeholder feedback, and business ROI. • Prioritize initiatives that deliver measurable impact—either revenue growth or cost reduction. • Influence senior leadership to evaluate, prioritize, and greenlight high impact product investments. • Make explicit prioritization trade-offs based on business impact, engineering capacity, and operational readiness. • Mentor and nurture different product team members by setting priorities, removing their blockers, implementing best PM practices/frameworks. • Set high standards for documentation, prioritization rigor, and execution discipline. • Work on the full product lifecycle: Discovery, design, development, GTM, and sustained go‑lives. • Drive requirements definition: PRDs, workflow diagrams, edge cases, functional and non-functional requirements. • Ensure on‑time, high‑quality releases within defined turnaround times (TATs). • Own release planning, rollout sequencing, and adoption tracking across countries and teams. • Ensure every launch has clear success metrics, operational readiness, and rollback plans. • Partner daily with engineering teams to shape system design, APIs, and data models. • Head sprint planning, backlog grooming, and scope control. • Define testing strategy focused on business-critical flows, failure modes, and realistic user behaviour. • Use SQL and dashboards to validate product usage, data quality, and business impact post-launch. • Work on discovery efforts to identify issues in existing processes, user pain points, and competitive threats. Identify root causes behind process breakdowns, revenue leakage, fraud risk, or poor customer experience. • Translate observations into concrete problem statements, not abstract “user needs”. • Push back on solutions that look good on paper but won’t work at scale in the field. • Collaborate and act as the single-threaded owner across Engineering, Operations, Sales, Risk, Programs, Call center, Data etc. • Work on aligning scope, timelines, rollout plans, and success metrics. • Escalate decisively when trade-offs are required between speed, quality, and scope. • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and impact. • Use data to iterate on product performance and drive growth. • Travel about 10%-20% of the time to places including but not limited to India, Kenya, Myanmar, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and to any other Sun King markets.
