Associate Controls Engineer

• Assist in the commissioning of automated sortation systems. • Implement site-based controls for new equipment within new or existing customer facilities. • Work under the direct supervision of Sr Controls Engineers ensuring drawings and software are completed, installed, commissioned, validated, and documented as required. • Write and implement PLC code, integrate subsystems, and assist in all on-site commissioning efforts. • Utilize “Human Machine Interface” (HMI) using commercially available products such as Ignition, Aveva Intouch Wonderware, Aveva Edge (Indusoft) or FactoryTalk View to develop interface solutions. • Implement PLC and HMI programs to satisfy current design and customer specifications under the supervision of Sr Controls Engineers. • Review and understand electrical designs. • Support the commissioning of complex automated systems, provide site engineering support, and participate in system acceptance testing.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or comparable.
- Familiar with basic electronic/electrical schematics or components
- Preferred: 0-2 years of experience within an industrial controls environment which includes: PLC programming (Rockwell Software, Siemens or Schneider)
- HMI Programming (FactoryTalk View or Ignition)
- Familiar with IO devices and device layout.
- Industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Devicenet, Profinet, etc.)
- Low voltage electrical design and drawing creation.
- Equivalent work experience will also be considered as a substitute for education.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 - Office Apps.

The Role The Virtual Analysis Engineer - Pistons & Rings is a senior technical individual contributor responsible for advanced virtual analysis, development support, and hardware release activities for internal combustion engine piston and piston ring systems. This role applies deep physics-based understanding to ring dynamics, blowby, and lubricating oil consumption , translating simulation results into actionable engineering and program decisions. This position operates with significant autonomy, serves as a technical authority within its domain, and contributes to method development, tool validation, and best-practice definition across the organization. Role Summary Across GKN Aerospace, Chief Manufacturing Engineers (CME) lead the development, industrialisation and improvement of Manufacturing Systems whilst serving as the customer-facing representative of the ME function. Day-to-day, a CME is typically focused on delivery of non-recurring engineering projects, including New Product Introductions (NPI), Transfers of Work (ToW), Major Modifications (Mods), Technology Insertions and resolving manufacturing process related quality and delivery challenges across GKN’s manufacturing locations, working closely with production engineering teams. This may include process flow, bill of materials, proposed industrial setting, product cost estimates, requirements compliance or technology developments needed. Role Qualifications Essential - Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification (university degree) in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical).
