Role Description The Underwriting Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the underwriting process by delivering high-quality, efficient service to both internal and external clients. This position partners closely with Program Series Underwriters and brokers to ensure accurate and timely policy processing, while also serving as a mentor and subject matter expert within the team. - Collaborate with Underwriters to quote, bind, and issue policies and endorsements - Maintain and strengthen relationships with brokers - Prepare and review policy files and documentation for accuracy and completeness - Request and verify Broker of Record letters and other underwriting documentation - Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) - Prepare policies for issuance using the appropriate Policy Administration System (PAS) - Lead or assist in PAS testing and review initiatives in collaboration with management - Participate in special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned Qualifications - Experience in the commercial insurance industry and regulatory environment - 2+ years minimum directly supporting commercial lines underwriters - Bachelor's degree; OR 4+ years of experience in insurance underwriting - Working knowledge of PDF, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Ability to travel up to 10% of the year Requirements - Knowledge of Project management software – like Monday.com - Familiarity with Policy Administration software – Origami or Federato - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers - Must demonstrate self-motivation, dependability, as well as strong problem solving and analytical skills - Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines - Strong organizational and time management skills - Ability to work independently and proactively - Effective prioritization with minimal supervision - Proficient multitasking and deadline management - High attention to detail and accuracy - Strong mathematical aptitude - Exceptional customer service orientation - Collaborative team player with a positive attitude Core Values - Builds and maintains strong professional relationships - Communicates with clarity and impact - Demonstrates accountability and drives results - Invests in personal growth and supports team development - Makes thoughtful, disciplined decisions Working Conditions - Requires a quiet work environment with regular sitting at a computer for extended periods of time - Regular use of hands and fingers - Frequent talking or hearing - Vision requirements: Close, distance, color, peripheral, focus and depth perception Additional Information This is a remote position; however, you must live in the United States and be authorized to work in the United States without requirement of employment sponsorship/visa.

Role Description As a member of our underwriting support team, you will provide high level support to the underwriting function. In this role, you will assist in the preparation of new business quotes and policy issues, as well as rating both new business and renewal applications, while maintaining accuracy and targeted due dates. - Complete portfolio process (RPA) prior to renewal date - Complete pre-underwriting process of renewals by Underwriter due date and new business submissions - Coordinate the pre-underwriting process which includes, but is not limited to: - Review of application - Request for additional information from agent or PMA staff - Classification of exposures - Ordering RMA, D&B, MVR's and synopsis - Completion of loss trend and development - Analysis of large claims and loss trends - Review of prior audits - Complete new business, renewal and financial notification forms. - Attend and fully participate in all Team and Underwriting Meetings - Meet with assigned underwriter weekly to discuss and prioritize work processes and tasks - Process work in a timely and accurate manner - Rate and issue WC new business and renewal policies. Provide instruction to the Rating Center for completion of PAL lines new business and renewal policies. - Issue WC and Auto state filings as required. - Review correspondence including: Mid-term endorsement requests, Cancellation requests, WC Bureau letters. Respond to inquiries within UA authority. - Maintain Corporate Underwriting Image Standards. - Contact producers and insureds to obtain information and expedite service. - Visit Agents with an Underwriter for the purpose of establishing contact and acquainting them with work routines. - May assume a major role in training new hires, special projects, and learning & presenting new material to other Underwriting Assistants. - Demonstrate commitment to Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and apply knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.
