Senior COBOL Analyst/Developer

• The COBOL Developer will work on the development and integration of services in a legacy Mainframe environment. • Operate and monitor batch workflows in Control‑M (Mainframe), ensuring SLA compliance. • Act quickly on abends/failures in the batch flows: analyze, correct, release and reprocess/restart. • Perform quick inspections of programs to identify root cause and execution parameters. • Implement changes in JCL and COBOL/DB2 programs (steps, DDs, parameters, datasets, conditionals, return codes). • Adjust and validate SYSINs (control cards/execution parameters). • Make modifications and perform analyses on COBOL programs/JCLs following the change management process (when applicable).
Job Requirements
- Solid experience with Control‑M on Mainframe (dependencies, rerun/restart, troubleshooting).
- Strong knowledge of JCL and SYSIN.
- Experience in failure analysis and working in a TSO/ISPF environment.
- Practical knowledge of batch processing: return codes/steps, datasets (e.g., GDG/VSAM depending on client context).
- Availability to work evening or night shifts and weekends (rotational schedule).
- Maintenance and analysis experience with COBOL/DB2.
- Knowledge of Oracle databases.
- Familiarity with utilities (e.g., SORT, IDCAMS).
- Experience with supporting tools.
- Experience with change management tools (e.g., ChangeMan).
- Solid experience in online environments.
- Proficiency in CICS and COBOL/DB2.
- Availability to work weekends (rotational schedule).
- Behavioral skills and competencies: sense of urgency and a focus on quickly restoring batch flows.
- Analytical thinking and objective investigation skills (rapid diagnosis).
- Organization and discipline to record actions and evidence for traceability.
- Clear communication with development, business and operations teams.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Academic education completed or in progress in IT‑related fields.
