Intermediate QA Automation Engineer

Fable

• Design, develop, and maintain automated tests (UI, API, and integration) using tools such as Cypress or similar • Expand automation coverage beyond critical flows into high-risk and regression areas • Improve the reliability, speed, and usability of the automation pipeline, including local test execution • Identify opportunities to replace repetitive or high-risk manual testing with automation • Define and evolve test strategies for features and initiatives within your pod • Identify risks, edge cases, and gaps in coverage early in the development process • Ensure acceptance criteria are clear, testable, and aligned with real-world usage • Contribute to release readiness by providing confidence in product quality • Partner with Engineering and Design to validate user experience and accessibility

Job Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in QA, with a strong focus on automation
  • Experience with automated testing approaches, including code-based frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium) and/or no-code/low-code tools
  • Experience testing web applications (UI and API)
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python) or a strong willingness to develop coding skills
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into deployment workflows
  • Strong understanding of test strategy, including risk-based testing and regression coverage
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to think through edge cases and real-world scenarios

Qualifications - Strong, hands-on experience with Appium for mobile test automation on both iOS and Android. - Proficiency in Java as the primary automation language. - Proven experience running automated mobile tests on real device farms (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm, or similar). - Experience setting up and managing local device testing environments. - Solid understanding of mobile-specific automation challenges: device fragmentation, OS version differences, flakiness, and app lifecycle management. - Experience integrating mobile automation into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or similar). - Ability to design maintainable, scalable test frameworks using best practices such as Page Object Model or similar patterns. - Direct QA or automation experience in the betting, gambling, sportsbook, or betting exchange domain is required. - Strong understanding of betting concepts such as markets, odds, events, and settlements. - Experience validating user wallet, balance, and financial transaction flows through automation. - Familiarity with risk-sensitive and revenue-impacting user flows that demand high test confidence. - Exposure to compliance-driven or regulated environments is a plus, especially US-facing products. - Practical experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to accelerate test design, code generation, or failure analysis. - Interest in or experience with AI-powered mobile testing tools, such as self-healing test frameworks or smart selector strategies. - Genuine drive to use AI to improve automation efficiency, coverage quality, and debugging speed. - Experience with Playwright or other web automation frameworks — useful as our web automation stack also runs on Playwright. - Familiarity with TypeScript or Python in a QA or automation context. - Experience working with distributed engineering teams across time zones. - Background in fintech or real-money transaction testing.
