Role Description AlignHR seeks a dynamic and technology savvy part-time Payroll Specialist to join its team. The payroll specialist is responsible for timely and accurate payroll processing and maintaining payroll records for assigned clients. Other responsibilities include: - Compliance with wage and hour laws - Payroll tax analysis - Compiling data for reporting and audits - Managing employee payroll inquiries This role requires hands-on experience with UKG Ready and familiarity with Paycom, ADP, or other payroll systems or the ability to learn other systems quickly is a strong plus. This position is ideal for professionals seeking flexibility, work-life balance, parents re-entering the workforce, or individuals who want to supplement their income with part-time hours. This position provides work-life balance through a flexible schedule and the ability to work remotely. Hours will vary and will initially be between 10 and 20 hours per week to start with the ability to increase based hours based on client needs, service line growth, and job performance. Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in small to mid-sized organizations - Direct experience with UKG Ready (a must); knowledge of Paycom, ADP, or similar payroll systems is preferred - Solid understanding of payroll practices, tax reporting, and compliance - Benefits administration experience is a plus - Attention to detail and strong organizational skills - Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) - Strong communication and problem-solving abilities - Associate’s degree in accounting, Human Resources, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered - Payroll certification is a plus Requirements - Process and review payroll and time records for accuracy and compliance with wage and hour laws and company policies - Maintain employee records to accurately reflect new hires, terminations, salary and other data changes as requested by the client - Maintain employee records for tax withholding, direct deposit, and other changes requested by employees - Update employee records to include garnishments, child support, tax levies, and other required deductions as well as deductions for insurance benefits, retirement plan contributions, and other voluntary deductions - Process expense reimbursements, bonus and commission payments and other payments requested by the client - Generate payroll reports for management and finance - Manage retirement plan contribution reporting and other post-payroll steps - Coordinate system changes and inquiries with the UKG customer service representative - Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws - Respond timely to client and employee inquiries regarding payroll, timekeeping, and deductions - Support workers compensation, retirement plan, and financial audits and reporting requirements as needed - Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate and consistent data - Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company payroll information Benefits - Compensation is commensurate with experience level and has an initial pay range between $28 and $32 per hour Physical Demands - Prolonged periods working on a computer - Occasional lifting of files or office supplies (up to 10 pounds) - Ability to sit for extended periods while performing data entry and reporting tasks Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities - Strong knowledge of payroll practices, compliance, and tax requirements - Proficiency with UKG Ready and working knowledge of Paycom, ADP, or other payroll systems - Analytical skills for auditing and reconciling payroll records - Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with accuracy - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity Company Description Equal Opportunity Employer

Operational Excellence & Compliance 60% - Oversee and manage end to end payroll activities including audits, reconciliations, yearend processes, garnishments, benefits, equity, and special payments. - Ensure compliance with IRS, CRA, Puerto Rico Hacienda, and applicable state/provincial/local laws, as well as internal audit and SOX standards. - Lead the design, documentation, and testing of payroll controls and risk mitigation measures. - Maintain jurisdictional tax setup, updates, and adherence to legislative changes. - Maintain confidentiality and always safeguard sensitive payroll and employee data.
