GoDaddy
Role Description Join our Team at GoDaddy, where we’re passionate about building software and infrastructure that solves problems. Our Database services SRE team is responsible for design, build, and maintain the Microsoft SQL Server databases that power GoDaddy.com and the company. What you'll get to do: - Design, implement, and support highly available and resilient Microsoft SQL Server environments using technologies such as Always On Availability Groups, WSFC, replication, mirroring, and log shipping, including at large scale (20TB+ OLTP systems). - Partner closely with software engineering and cross‑functional teams to design secure, scalable, and future‑ready database architectures aligned with long‑term business needs. - Establish, document, and maintain security standards, operational best practices, and performance optimisation strategies for MSSQL workloads, including troubleshooting using tools such as Extended Events. - Lead database deployments, upgrades, capacity planning, backup and recovery, and complex troubleshooting efforts, ensuring SLAs are consistently met across environments. - Build, automate, and optimise database infrastructure and operations using scripting, automation, and emerging technologies (including AI‑enabled agents), covering server builds, storage configuration, and SAN integrations. - Contribute as a reliable team member by managing work through Agile/Kanban tools (e.g., Jira), collaborating with vendors, and participating in a shared 24×7 on‑call rotation to support business‑critical systems. Qualifications - 4+ years of hands‑on experience administering MS SQL Server (2014–2025), including working in fast‑paced, mission‑critical environments. - 2+ years of experience with high‑availability and resiliency technologies such as Always On Availability Groups, Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC), and MSSQL Transactional Replication. - Strong technical foundation in T‑SQL, PowerShell scripting, Windows Operating Systems, and RAID, with the ability to automate and optimise database operations. - Demonstrated ability to take ownership of issues end‑to‑end, lead troubleshooting efforts, and consistently drive work to closure under pressure. - Experience working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with clear, effective communication and adaptability to change. - 1+ year of experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Kanban boards for tracking work, priorities, and delivery. Requirements - Experience with version control systems such as GitHub. - Exposure to or hands‑on experience with AI‑enabled tools or automation. - Familiarity with Storage Area Networks (SANs). - Experience with VB.NET or additional scripting/programming languages.
