Role Description RRC is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer I - BESS to build the future of both U.S. and Canada energy production from both remote work locations and any one of our U.S. or Canadian office locations. Core Values - Client Satisfaction – understands the goal of always exceeding our client’s expectations - Employee Happiness – able to work well with others, communicate clearly with coworkers, promote a positive work environment, and mediate conflicts between team members - Quality Work - able to take ownership, work independently, prioritize workload, and deliver quality results on time while working on multiple projects simultaneously - Above and Beyond - versatile, flexible, able to anticipate the needs of the company, take the initiative, and willing to go out of your way to assist others Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Assist in the design and engineering of Battery Energy Storage Systems, DC systems and MV power systems such as switchgear and distribution equipment. - Support the preparation and execution of system studies including ampacity, load flow, short circuit analysis, and loss studies. - Work with project teams to support the preparation, scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of engineering project activities. - Assist in interpreting client needs and project requirements and translating them into engineering solutions. - Review manufacturer equipment drawings and technical specifications. - Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and quality assurance policies. - Assist in performing quality control checks on engineering deliverables including drawings, calculations, and studies. - Support review of engineering deliverables and assist in implementing corrective actions when required. - Coordinate with designers and drafters to ensure drawings meet engineering requirements. - Work with team on changing trends in technology. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or related field. - 0-2+ years of experience in battery energy storage systems, renewable energy, distribution systems, or MV power systems. - Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain preferred. - Basic understanding of medium- and low-voltage systems. - Familiarity with switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, breakers, and protection devices. - Experience in the utility scale renewable energy industry and/or utility scale power delivery is a plus. - Must be authorized for full-time work in Canada or the United States. - Basic understanding of relevant codes and standards including IEEE, NEC, NESC, and NFPA. - Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Role Description This position will offer you the ability to directly apply your knowledge of protective relaying and controls systems for HV and EHV substations. Qualifications - We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position. - This position requires a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree. - 12 or more years experience designing substations at 138kV and above. - PE license. - Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role. - Experience in writing and providing support documentation for relay calculations. - Experience with the design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. - Proficiency with any of the following programs: SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, CDEGS, or vendor software. - Familiarity with design codes and standards, such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI. - Experience with various vendor protective relay equipment typically used in substation protection, including SEL, ABB, GE, Areva, and Basler. - Proficiency with MS Office applications. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Requirements - A Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering degree is preferable. - A degree from an ABET accredited engineering program. - Prior experience is desirable to include in-line, bus and equipment protection, breaker, transformer and similar equipment control, RTU and data concentrator based SCADA systems, telemetering and communications (fiber optics, microwave, power line carrier, etc.). - AutoCAD or MicroStation experience. - Construction and start-up experience. - Testing or commissioning experience. Role Description Piq Energy is looking for a talented transmission planning engineer with coding experience to expand our US team! You will design, build, test, and iterate on our core autonomous grid planning product. In addition, you will be managing grid data and models, support our power system analytics team and our users!
