Title: Psychologist Location: Wetumpka, Alabama, United States Department: Mental Health Job Description: NaphCare is hiring a Psychologist to join our team of medical professionals at the Julia Tutwiler Prison located in Wetumpka, Alabama. As a Correctional Psychologist, you will provide psychological treatment and support to the facility residents while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex mental health needs. Responsibilities The Psychologist is responsible for providing psychological leadership, consultation and direct services for patients to help improve their mental health and reduce the risk of recidivism. Additional responsibilities may include and not be limited to: - Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in providing assessment and treatment of mental and emotional disorders of patients. - Working with inmates to prepare them for reintegration into society, providing support for finding housing, employment, and other resources. - Providing counseling and support to help inmates manage emotional challenges, cope with incarceration, and develop coping mechanisms. - Coordinating, leading and participating in educational training activities related to mental health care - Conducting risk assessments to identify potential dangers to inmates and the public, informing decisions about housing, treatment, and release Qualifications Experience / Requirements / Qualifications - Must hold a current, unrestricted Psychologist license in AL - Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred) - Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders - Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals, correctional staff and judges - Ability to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plans - Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards - Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information - Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements - Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening Why Join NaphCare? The BC Brain Wellness Program brings together the DMCBH, the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Clinic at the University of British Columbia and Vancouver Coastal Health. Expertise is drawn from many fields including the School of Music, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Neurosciences, Nutrition as well as several community partners. The Research Associate role will contribute to the translation of research into practice, directly impacting the lives of people living with chronic brain conditions with a main focus on Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis, as well as people living with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and acquired brain injury (ABI). This is an opportunity to contribute directly to the translation of innovative research into real-world impact. The successful candidate will play a central role in bridging research and community engagement, supporting the dissemination of pioneering programs in exercise, nutrition, and art-based therapeutics for individuals with various chronic neurological conditions. Evidence informed practice and staying up to date with current evidence around the role of lifestyle-based approaches and their impact on brain health is key component of this role. The individual must be knowledgeable and mindful of the research enterprise ongoing. They must ensure: 1) patient confidentiality and safety; 2) Clinical data reliability and quality. Organizational Status The BCBWP is seeking a part-time (0.5FTE) Research Associate/ Knowledge Translation Specialist to join the team.
