Role Description The online teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction to students in a virtual learning environment. This role requires a dynamic educator who can engage learners through live virtual instruction, foster strong relationships with students and families, and create an inclusive, achievement-oriented online classroom culture. The ideal candidate is skilled in digital instruction, student engagement, and data-driven decision-making. This teacher demonstrates strong communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to academic excellence for all students. Essential Functions - Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned virtual instruction for students. - Facilitate daily synchronous (live) online lessons and design meaningful asynchronous learning experiences. - Differentiates instruction to meet the academic, linguistic, and social-emotional needs of diverse learners. - Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and achievement-oriented virtual classroom culture. - Implement accommodations and modifications in accordance with IEPs, 504 plans, and English learner requirements. - Administer formative and summative assessments aligned to curriculum standards. - Analyze student performance data to inform instruction, provide targeted interventions, and support academic growth. - Monitor student attendance, participation, and engagement; proactively intervene when concerns arise. - Provide timely, actionable feedback on assignments, assessments, and student performance. - Maintain accurate records of grades, progress monitoring, and required compliance documentation. - Communicate regularly and professionally with students and families regarding expectations, progress, and support strategies. - Collaborate with colleagues, instructional coaches, support staff, and administrators to improve student outcomes. - Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and professional learning communities. - Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and adherence to school policies and digital citizenship expectations. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree. - Strong proficiency with technology and online instructional tools. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team. Requirements - The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check. Preferred Qualifications - A current teaching certificate from within the state position is located. - Previous online or virtual teaching experience. - Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Schoology, Canvas, Google Classroom). Physical and Travel Requirements / Work Environment - Travel between campuses is required from time to time. - This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion. - This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, and long periods of concentration. - Local and in-state travel required.
