Role Description Currently we are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join the team as a long-term Contractor (B2B) / Freelancer. - Craft Cutting-Edge Applications: Develop powerful, efficient back-end web applications that drive our business forward. - Architect & Build: Design and implement core business logic, creating high-performance servers and databases. - Enhance Security & Performance: Ensure our systems are secure, reliable, and optimized across multiple platforms. - API Development: Design and develop APIs that enable seamless communication between systems. - Collaborate on Scalable Solutions: Work alongside other developers to create scalable software solutions. - Lead Projects: Take charge of key projects, guiding them from concept to completion. - Maintain & Improve Code Quality: Keep our codebase organized and pristine while fixing bugs and enhancing functionality. - Troubleshoot & Optimize: Analyze data, processes, and code to identify areas for improvement and troubleshoot issues. - Write Documentation: Contribute to creating clear technical documentation for current and future reference. Qualifications - A university degree in IT - Expertise in IT: min 9 years of professional experience in development. - Proven Back-End Skills: Mastery of back-end languages and frameworks, including Java 8+, Spring, Spring Boot, Java EE, and Hibernate. - Database Proficiency: Solid experience with Oracle Service Bus, Oracle DB, and RDBMS database technology. - Integration Experience: Deep understanding of OpenID Connect, SSO, and integration techniques. - Cloud Enthusiast: Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud development. - Message Queues & APIs: Expertise in Kafka, ActiveMQ, JMS, and working with REST & SOAP APIs. - Blockchain Knowledge: Familiarity with blockchain technologies is a big plus! - Identity & Access Management: Experience with tools like Secunda and IOP IAM. - Domain Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Procurement and Grant Management business domains. - Server & Web Configuration: Strong understanding of Oracle WebLogic Server, Apache, SSL/TLS, and reverse proxy configuration. - CI/CD & DevOps: Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Bamboo and Docker. - Version Control: Knowledge of Git for code versioning. - Bonus Skills: Experience with NoSQL databases, Angular, TypeScript, and front-end technologies is a plus. - Language Proficiency: Fluent in English, with proficiency in French being a great advantage. Role Description We’re seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Developer to design, optimise, and support the transactional SQL Server databases that power business-critical applications. This is a hands-on, application-focused role centred on advanced T-SQL development, query optimisation, and performance tuning, with secondary responsibility for production DBA activities. The role involves: - Writing T-SQL to support application performance and reliability - Collaborating closely with software engineering teams - Supporting production SQL Server environments as needed You’ll design, develop, and optimise high-performance SQL Server solutions, including: - Designing and optimising database schemas for high-transaction application workloads - Developing and tuning complex T-SQL (stored procedures, views, functions, triggers) - Analysing execution plans and resolving performance bottlenecks, blocking, and deadlocks - Optimising indexes, statistics, and query patterns, including ORM-generated SQL - Working with XML and JSON data structures within SQL Server - Partnering closely with software engineers to support application design, releases, and performance This role is open to candidates based in London or remote, based in the UK.
