The School of Extended Education is seeking an engaging and experienced Instructor to join our Cybersecurity Certificate Program as a casual instructor. As a casual instructor in the Cybersecurity Certificate Program, you will: - Deliver high-quality, industry-relevant instruction to students in a fully online setting. - Design and facilitate engaging learning experiences. - Support learners in achieving program outcomes. - Bring real-world cybersecurity practices into the virtual classroom. Faculty in the School of Extended Education plays a critical role in learner success by: - Delivering instruction. - Evaluating progress. - Developing practical, applied learning materials. In this role, you will foster an inclusive and interactive online learning environment that supports diverse learners and prepares them for careers in cybersecurity. What You'll Be Doing - Deliver High-Quality Instruction: - Lead engaging and inclusive learning experiences in a virtual environment. - Design and deliver lessons that reflect diverse student needs, applying a variety of effective instructional strategies. - Continuously enhance curriculum, learning materials, and assessment tools to ensure relevance and quality. - Monitor student progress, evaluate performance, and provide timely, constructive feedback to support student success. - Foster a Positive Learning Experience: - Create a supportive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and achievement. - Address academic concerns related to performance, participation, or conduct, and connect learners to appropriate support when needed. - Ensure required accommodations are implemented effectively and contribute to learner success through ongoing communication and support. - Support Program Delivery & Continuous Improvement: - Contribute to the ongoing quality and relevance of the program by incorporating current cybersecurity practices and industry trends into instruction. - Participate in program activities such as orientations or graduation events and support initiatives that enhance the learner’s experience. - Contribute to Institutional Excellence: - Support the institution’s mission by adhering to policies, procedures, and academic standards. - Engage in ongoing professional development and complete required training. - Contribute to special projects, applied research initiatives, and departmental priorities as needed, bringing a collaborative and proactive approach to all aspects of the role. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. - Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience in cybersecurity. - Prior teaching or training experience, preferably in an online environment. - A diploma combined with 5+ years of relevant cybersecurity experience may be considered. Assets - Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+. - Experience teaching adult learners or delivering micro-credentials. - Familiarity with learning management systems such as D2L. - Additional certifications in cybersecurity or emerging areas (e.g., AI-related credentials). This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Cornerstone LMS, with additional exposure to the Performance Management, Succession, and Talent Marketplace modules. The CSOD Administrative Coordinator partners closely with Learning & Development, HR, HR Business Partners, and business leaders to support enterprise learning programs, leadership development, compliance, and talent processes.
