Job Requirements
- BS in electrical engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background
- 10 or more years of experience in the electric power industry
- Experience in detailed design of medium voltage electrical systems of thermal power projects
- Experience supporting development and conceptual design of thermal power projects
- Excellent technical communication and writing skills

• Identify relevant design criteria for high availability power system supplying data centers. • Define and own the overall power system architecture for data centers from utility point of interconnection through IT load. • Design high-reliability substations aligned with Tier III / Tier IV reliability standards for up to 50MW data centers. • Lead failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), short-circuit studies, coordination studies, and reliability assessments. • Ensure systems are designed for maintainability without downtime, including concurrent maintenance strategies. • Support black-start, islanded operation, and degraded-mode operating scenarios where applicable. • Design on-site or co-located generation, including: diesel or gas turbine generators; Battery energy storage systems (BESS); Co-located or on-site photovoltaic (PV) systems. • Define control strategies for dispatch, load-shedding, islanding, resynchronization, and grid interaction. • Coordinate integration of DERs with UPS systems, static switches, and data hall distribution. • Lead technical engagement with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and interconnection authorities. • Support interconnection studies, protection coordination with utility systems, and compliance with grid requirements. • Interface with EPCs, OEMs, and equipment suppliers to ensure design intent is preserved through execution. • Establish and maintain design standards, reference architectures, and technical guidelines across multiple sites or regions. • Provide technical oversight during design reviews, FATs, SATs, commissioning, and energization. • Support operational teams with troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and system upgrades over the asset lifecycle. • Work cross-functionally with engineering, legal, commercial, and executive teams to align project goals.
• Develop and execute system build plans accounting for software architecture, information security, and hardware deployment • Work closely with customers to understand their operational needs, provide system training and configuration to meet their needs • Perform system and acceptance testing with customers • Develop scripts and other middleware solutions to integrate into third-party systems • Troubleshoot complex problems and collaborate with technical experts in various domains • Lead workshops with customers • Travel to customer sites and work directly with customers to successfully deliver, test, and integrate systems
• Responsible for the operations and maintenance support of electrical power distribution systems, including high voltage substations, transformers, switchgear, motors, motor control centers, lighting, grounding, electrical wiring, and hazardous area classification. • Lead and participate in electrical engineering activities that improve the reliability of Airgas assets and optimize maintenance costs. • Manage/assist in analysis and ensure follow-up on predictive data (coordination studies, relay tests, thermography, PD testing, megger tests, oil gas analysis, etc.) • Provide technical guidance to operating plants from a corporate level on Local, National, & International Codes, Standards, Policies, and Procedures. • Assist with engineering studies, incident investigations, audits and assists with preparing oral and written reports. • Establish and maintain equipment condition assessment information for high yards and high voltage motors. • Provide technical assistance to field personnel in the areas of high voltage distribution equipment and high voltage motors. • Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. • Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. • Implement Smart Innovative Operations (SIO) Predict initiatives for electrical equipment at Airgas. • Provides technical oversight and review of project engineering work performed by external resources in support of the development and implementation of small electrical projects. • Actively participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCA). • Take the lead in training, coaching, and mentoring field technicians and operations staff in the preventative maintenance and operation of electrical distribution and control systems.
