Job Description

Product Owner – Billing Squad

Alex Staff Agency

• Own the Billing product area end-to-end: define vision, prioritise the backlog, write clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and ensure successful delivery of features. • Collaborate with Finance, Legal and Compliance to ensure billing solutions meet accounting standards, tax rules and regulatory requirements across relevant jurisdictions. • Partner with engineering and platform teams to design secure, resilient and scalable payment and invoicing systems, including support for multiple currencies, tax treatments, and payment providers. • Drive continuous improvement of billing operations: reduce manual reconciliation, improve cash collection, and automate dispute handling and refunds. • Work closely with Customer Success and Sales to understand commercial contracts, pricing models and invoicing needs; translate these into product capabilities that support new business models and market expansion. • Define and track KPIs for billing health and performance (e.g., DSO, failed payments, reconciliation rate) and use data to drive prioritisation. • Support migrations and integrations with external ERPs and accounting systems to ensure data integrity and smooth financial close processes. • Act as the product authority during planning, grooming and delivery ceremonies; communicate roadmap, trade-offs and release plans to stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Product Owner, Product Manager or similar role working on billing, payments, invoicing or finance-related products in a tech or SaaS environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (including revenue recognition), VAT/GST and cross-border tax considerations; experience working with finance teams is essential.
  • Hands-on experience defining user stories, acceptance criteria and prioritising backlogs in an agile environment.
  • Experience integrating with payment gateways, acquiring banks, and/or ERP/accounting systems (AP/AR) is highly desirable.
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills; comfortable defining and tracking product metrics and using them to inform decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Customer-focused and pragmatic: able to balance short-term operational needs with long-term platform stability and scalability.
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to shape a critical product area at a high-growth company building the future of corporate travel.
  • Hybrid working flexibility with a truly international team and collaborative culture.
  • Hands-on role with significant ownership, influence and scope for professional growth.
  • A chance to work at the intersection of product, finance and engineering on challenging, impactful problems.

• Own the Consumer proposition end-to-end — from value proposition and product-led growth loops through to the day-to-day experience our consumers have when they come to Bark to get a job done. • We want a player-coach: someone who sets the direction, grows the team underneath them into stronger PMs, yet is ready to step into complex initiatives and shape them directly. • You’ll move fluently between vision, people, and execution — and you’ll make your teams faster by unblocking them, giving them clarity, and raising the bar on how we work. • This is a transformation role, not an iteration role. • We’re not looking to polish the current consumer experience - we’re rebuilding the model from the ground up, moving from a lead-gen business to a subscription marketplace.
