In this exciting role, you will develop cutting-edge AI and machine learning applications that drive efficiency and enhance user experience. - The AI/ML Software Engineer will build software tools that incorporate AI/ML techniques to automate narrowly defined tasks with high accuracy. - Assist internal users with their job functions. - Improve the experience external users have when interacting with the Maryland Judiciary. - This includes, but is not limited to: - RPA work - Building or refining chatbots - Incorporating AI/ML into reporting tools - Building LLM agents for knowledge retrieval - Deep research - Translation - Transcription - Redaction - Document analysis - Document generation - Agentic coding - Data processing Qualifications - Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or Mathematics, or a related field (as determined by the AOC). Requirements - At least three (3) years’ experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI development. - At least three (3) years’ experience in software engineering, architecture, or web development. • Plan, implement, test and deploy features and integrations for our web apps. • Design, implement and monitor n8n workflows and resolve any issues that arise. • Implement deployment workflows with GitHub Actions and continuously improve our setup. • Perform classic quality assurance of updates, conduct code reviews, maintain automated tests, and manage monitoring/alerting.

• Write clean, performant code for our backend RESTful APIs to ensure data flows from our 3rd-party vendors • Support data access across multiple databases to sustain our critical infrastructure • Collaborate with product owners, QA, and DevOps across Scrum teams to deliver solutions for our users • Create and maintain API usage documentation and flow diagrams

• Implementation and execution of data ETL, management and engineering. • Development of user interfaces for curation and data maintenance tools based on user requirements. • Enhance data and knowledge processing effectiveness and efficiency, and improve workflows for internal data analysis, interpretation, and clinical report writing in daily production clinical operations. • Implementation of data models and software frameworks to effectively store and process data, information, and clinical insights. • Monitor database performance and proactively optimize queries and processes for improved efficiency. • Collaborates in a multidisciplinary and regulated clinical diagnostics environment with geneticists, bioinformaticians, software engineers, and IT infrastructure professionals.
