Based in Mexico City, the Senior Director of Software Engineering will be responsible for building and leading a team of software engineers who focus on software delivery experience tools to make life easier for engineers to engineer; who focus on cloud governance for compliance, risk reduction, automation and drive standardization towards cloud native architectures; who focus on well managed experiences to empower leaders and application teams to have great visibility and control of their well-managed activities. As a Senior Director of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for working with senior Technology and Business Executives, understanding their Vision and translating it into Execution Strategy. You will be guiding software engineering teams that are responsible for the design and delivery of high quality software for critical business features, built on AWS to the latest technology standards. You will collaborate with Architecture, Card Product, Card Technology and Enterprise stakeholders to drive this critical project forward. You will provide Technology thought leadership and help raise the talent bar by recruiting and hiring top engineering talent. You will also work with product owners to articulate benefits of proposed solutions; influence the technical roadmap; and help business prioritize work. As a Sr. Director of Software Engineering, you will: - Lead and inspire a team of 50-70 high-quality software engineers - Support an aggressive recruiting agenda to assess and staff a large (100+ person) high-quality software engineering organization - Provide thought leadership and guidance to our software engineers, and our product partners, with a focus on the software delivery experience, cloud and risk engineering and well managed - Encourage innovation, cutting-edge technologies, and out-of-the-box thinking - Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions - Serve as the primary point of contact and proactively manage relationships with Capital One US Tech leaders to effectively align well-managed resources and sequence needs in support of strategic business and Tech priorities - Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, including learning and experimenting with new technologies, participating in internal and external technology communities, and mentoring members of the engineering community - Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments - Support continuous improvements processes and shift-left well-managed activities by enabling the developer community through tooling and automation The successful candidate will be a seasoned technology professional with significant engineering experience.
