Principal Systems Engineer

Role Description AdvanTEC is a premier team of Building System Experts at Carrier Corp. This team, part of Carrier Commercial HVAC Engineering organization and the Global Enterprise Solutions team, develops, markets, and supports sales of innovative, intelligent building solutions. The AdvanTEC team creates and deploys rapid prototypes of solutions that solve customer problems and leverage the broad portfolio of Carrier products and expertise. Reporting to the Associate Director of the North America AdvanTEC team, this position will require a hands-on, self-starting person responsible to support Global Enterprise Solutions team and the Key Account Managers in North America sales team in the creation and sale of innovative new solutions. This position will also require working in close collaboration with Carrier business units for the sale and deployment of solutions in customer’s buildings primarily in the Americas and globally as needed. Key Responsibilities - Solution creation and sales - Participate in consultative sales of solutions to customers. - Work as a part of a global team to develop new intelligent building system solutions. - Support the creation of customer project proposals. - Participate in customer discovery sessions to identify needs and functional requirements. - Utilize rapid prototyping tools, modeling and simulation and existing products, as needed, to rapidly prototype new concepts to assess viability. - Utilize Carrier’s existing product portfolio in a design-assist role with customers. - Solution development - Perform system analysis in support of solution architecture definition and optimization. - Design and construct minimally viable prototypes (MVP) for demonstration to customers. - Execute solution deployments at customer sites to verify customer needs and business model. - Provide technical application support to business units and customers in support of customer projects using AdvanTEC developed solutions. - Project Management - Support the creation and management of project schedules and budgets. - Ensure appropriate level of technical rigor and quality through the appropriate application of product development standard work. Qualifications - Master’s degree with 5 years engineering system design/product development and/or application experience with a focus on building systems e.g. HVAC/Building Automation/Security/Fire systems. - Or Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years engineering system design/product development and/or application experience with a focus on building systems e.g. HVAC/Building Automation/Security/Fire systems. - Ability to travel up to 20-30%. Preferred Qualifications - Degree in building services, mechanical or electrical engineering. - Experience of application engineering for industrial or commercial buildings. - Solution architecting. - Strong analytical and problem solving skills. - Building and system energy modeling. - Registered Professional Engineer. - Broad technical background with experience in one or more of the following areas: - System engineering/design thinking. - HVAC Systems and Applications. - MEP design experience. - Energy engineering experience. - Familiarity with the design and application of building automation systems. - IoT system design and deployment. Advanced Systems Engineering Director
